Patrina FC Wins 3-1 Against Baby Eagle in League Match

Africa-Press – Liberia. Patrina FC delivered a commanding performance on Thursday, February 19, to defeat Baby Eagle Football Academy 3-1 in Round Seven of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) New Kru Town Subcommittee Third Division League.

The encounter, held at the D-Twe Field, saw Patrina recover from an early deficit to assert dominance and claim three crucial points in their push for promotion.

Baby Eagle stunned the favorites in the 9th minute when Joseph Kpoti found the back of the net, giving the “Eagles” an early lead and briefly putting Patrina on the back foot.

However, Patrina responded with composure and attacking intent, led by the creativity of Dominic Wesseh.

The equalizer came in the 19th minute through Joe Tarpeh, who restored parity and shifted the momentum.

Wesseh later added his name to the scoresheet to give Patrina the lead, capping off a Man of the Match performance.

With the match finally poised in the second half, Richard Kollie sealed the victory in the 69th minute, extending the lead to 3-1 and effectively putting the game out of reach for Baby Eagle.

The victory lifts Patrina to 4th place on the nine-team table with 10 points from six matches. Baby Eagle, meanwhile, drops to 7th place with 5 points.

Champions FC Cruise Past Caldwell United

In the day’s opening fixture, Champions FC secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Caldwell United.

Despite playing much of the second half with ten men, Champions maintained total control.

Caldwell United was also reduced to ten men late in the match, but the deficit proved too large to overcome.

Joe Nyenfuah, Christopher Wesseh, and Kelvin Tefleh provided the goals for Champions FC.

Reaction: “This Win Means a Lot”

Speaking to reporters post-match, Patrina’s Dominic Wesseh expressed his delight.

“At the start, the instruction was to observe our opponent before committing, but they took the lead,” Wesseh explained. “We had a game plan that helped us score three goals. This win means a lot because it moves us up the table with a game in hand.”

Wesseh added that his long-term ambition is to see Patrina competing in the Second or First Division within the next three to five seasons.

Patrina head coach Adama Macaulay noted that his players initially struggled with the “hangover” of a previous defeat to Champions FC.

“Going down early was because we didn’t warm up well, but after the dressing room talk and clear instructions, the boys responded,” Maccuely said. “Moving from fifth to fourth is a great achievement. We are now looking to close the gap at the top.”

Baby Eagle Focused on Survival

Baby Eagle head coach Joseph A. David admitted frustration, citing a lack of tactical discipline.

“My players didn’t follow instructions, and that affected us,” David said. “This is a setback, and our position on the table is not good.”

However, David remained realistic about the club’s goals.

“We just gained promotion from the Fourth Division. I told management this season is about maintaining our status. Next season, we will push for the Second Division.”

The New Kru Town Subcommittee Third Division League continues to showcase competitive grassroots football as teams battle for promotion in the 2025/2026 season.
