Africa-Press – Liberia. The German national team achieved a difficult and thrilling victory over Ivory Coast with a score of 2-1 in the fifth group match of the 2026 World Cup, held in Toronto, Canada.

Ivory Coast’s captain, Franck Kessié, opened the scoring in the 30th minute, capitalizing on a rebound from goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and finding the back of the net, giving his team an advantage despite Germany’s control of the game.

In the second half, German coach Julian Nagelsmann brought on striker Denis Undav, who successfully changed the course of the match by scoring the equalizer in the 69th minute just minutes after entering the field.

As the match seemed to be heading for a draw, Undav snatched a last-minute winning goal during stoppage time, benefiting from a precise pass that pierced through Ivory Coast’s defense, securing three valuable points for Germany.

Despite the loss, Ivory Coast’s hopes of qualifying for the Round of 32 remain alive ahead of their upcoming match against Curaçao in the next round.
