Liberia: PLP’s Daniel Cassell Urges Elders in Bong County Not to Fall to the ‘Deceit’ of Providing Bikes and Cars

Africa-Press – Liberia. The Standard Bearer of the People’s Liberation Party (PLP). Dr. Daniel E. Cassell, has termed as a high level of deceit the donation of several pickups and motorbikes by the Government of Liberia (GOL), through President George Manneh Weah, to chiefs across the country ahead of the 2023 general and presidential elections.

President Weah recently handed over several motorbikes and pickups to chiefs across the country to help ease some of the constraints they are faced with in commuting from one place to another.

But Dr. Cassell observed that the process was highly political.

He made these comments when he committed L$1.5M to youth and women empowerment in Degei Town in Fuamah district and Gbatala in Bong County recently.

Dr. Cassell and other executives and supporters of the PLP had gone to Bong to ask for the elders and citizens’ blessings in continuation of his tour across the country.

He frowned at the government for using taxpayers’ monies to purchase the items donated without clearly specifying and recognizing them.

Dr. Cassell observed that the government allegedly misled the public when the name of President George Manneh Weah was inserted on the items donated to the chiefs as though it was his personal cash.

“Because they know it’s election time; they started buying motorbikes and cars and putting the President’s name on it. That his own money? That’s the country money. Do not be deceived by that. I am one of the highest tax payers in this country and so, I will talk it”.

Speaking further, Dr. Cassell observed that Liberians are “sick and tire” of the barrage of problems and difficulties they continue to encounter on a daily basis in their own country.

Dr. Cassell and other executives and supporters of the PLP had gone to Bong to ask for the elders and citizens’ blessings in continuation of his tour across the country.

He urged citizens that despite the challenges they are faced with, they should always have in mind that a “new day is about to break” in the post-conflict nation.

He noted that despite being the rightful owners of Liberia and its resources, Liberians have not been able to benefit or enjoy hard-earned tax payers’ monies as compare to foreigners.

He added that foreigners are the ones that are mostly benefitting and enjoying Liberia.

Dr. Cassell maintained that citizens should continue to fast and pray for God to send a developmental and patriotic leader that will put forth the interest of the country above his personal aggrandizement.

“The dark cloud that has been hampering our people has finally disappeared. The light of God has finally arrived in Liberia and your district. The problems and situations our mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers been experiencing are about to change. A new day is about to break in your district-in the lives of Bongese and in the lives of all Liberians. I am your Moses God has sent and the time to liberate our people from their suffering has finally arrived. I will not rest until I solve your problems”.

He noted that the rights of citizens are being infringed, while their children cannot go to school or university due to the lack of support.

Dr. Cassell vowed to ensure that Liberians become determinants of their own destiny when elected to steer the affairs of the nation come 2023

“By the grace of God, I will make sure that our daughters and mothers will do the businesses that they want to do; you will go to school and get prepare to become the future leaders of this country. It is time for you to benefit from the resources of your own country and to determine your own destiny and make decisions. If you can’t enjoy in your own country, where are you expected to enjoy. It’s about time that each Liberian feels the impact of their resources”

“I am not in this for politics. I have a message from the Most High and your son who God has taken from poverty and is a native Liberia-God has given him a special assignment-I need your support; I cannot do it all alone. This fight is not for me or my family because God has already blessed me. I am fighting for you and your stories are going to change”.

Dr. Cassell emphasized that he remains a public servant that remain ready and committed to ensure that Liberians are not deny their fair share of the country’s wealth and resources.

“The time for you to be partakers in your own country’s affairs has finally arrived”.

He indicated that though he has been providing helping hands and other basic necessities needed to survive to less fortunate and struggling Liberians, he continues to be antagonized and witch-hunted by the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) led-government of President George Manneh Weah.

He made specific reference to the decision taken by the government, through the Liberia Civil Aviation Authority (LCAA) to grant landing right to his helicopter.

He noted that the helicopter purchased by him and his wife for the sole purpose of distributing medical supplies to less fortunate and aging citizens in the leeward and hard-to-reach areas in Liberia.

“The things that they can’t do for our people when they see me doing it, they are vexed huffing and puffing all around here. They do not want to see me because; I am opening the Liberian people eyes. George Weah’s government is vexed with me bad way, but when they vex let them hug the transformer”.

The government claimed that the helicopter was denied from landing in the country due to Dr Cassell’s company failure to follow the requisite procedures.

But Dr. Cassell argued that all of the necessary documentation and requirements were met, but the government wants to allegedly see it citizens suffering.

“All of the medical supplies I bought to distribute to our people to places were cars cannot go have spoiled because they stopped it. Your think these people love your? Your need to open your eyes”.

He pointed out that as an opposition Liberian politician, government should see his efforts being applied in the health, transportation, education and other sectors are only intended to alleviate the sufferings confronting disadvantaged, less fortunate, disenfranchised and less fortunate Liberian citizens.

Dr. Cassell emphasized that despite being a politician, his consistent humanitarian gestures to the needy has changed the body politics of Liberia.

He vowed not to be like other opposition politicians who normally criticize the government and sit supinely sit with folded hands doing nothing to address the challenges of those they want to lead in the future.

“I am practical; I talk and I do; I don’t make broken promises because I am not in this for politics. Each one of you is my assignment and I will not rest until your stories change”.

He pointed out that his decision taken to venture into politics is intended to help change the old system that has not benefitted Liberians for several decades.

“The problem we are faced with in our country has to do with the system and in order for you to change the system, it has to be done through politics and policies. That’s why God has brought me into politics not to be like the recycled politicians, but to be a game changer and to be able to change the stories of my people; and work for my people”.

In separate remarks, the locals in Fuamah district and Gbatala vowed to support the presidential ambition of Dr. Daniel Cassell.

They pointed out several developmental initiatives, including the construction of bridges, market buildings, rehabilitation of roads, provision of job opportunities, construction of housing units for low-incomers, affordable transportation services, among others as some of “Dr. Cassell tangibles” that have convinced them to elect him come 2023.
