Africa-Press – Liberia. The incident between the Director of the Executive Protection Service (EPS), Mr. Trokon Roberts and an officer of the Crime Service Division (CSD) assigned at Zone five police station in Schefflien, Margibi County has been blamed on gross insubordination, unethical and unprofessional behavior on the part of the officer involved.
During the early morning hours of Monday, February, 21, 2022, popular talk show host Henry Costa wrote on his facebook page, accusing Director Roberts of allegedly ordering some agents of the EPS to assault the Crime Services Division (CSD) Director of Depot five at the Roberts International Airport in Margibi County on February 16, 2022.
Costa claimed that Director Roberts allegedly acted due to the failure of the officer identified as one Augusta K. Tarwin to release several bags of unwholesome rice belonging to his cousin Miatta Johnson that she impounded along with a vehicle few days ago.
The incident has gone viral on the social media and in the public.
But an investigation launched by FrontPage Africa into the saga on Wednesday, has unearthed that agents of the EPS did not manhandled or assault the female LNP officer.
According to an eyewitness report, Director Roberts had gone to the police station to negotiate the release of about 9 bags of rice belonging to a friend that were impounded by the police on grounds that they were contaminated.
The report maintained that Director Roberts later appealed to one of the authorities at the station who ordered the release of the rice previously confiscated.
Following his appeal, the Executive Commander and other officers assigned at the station went in search of the keys to release the bags of rice from one of the rooms in the building housing the depot.
“While still on the scene, the custodian of the keys had gone to find something to eat somewhere. Just in that time, officer Augusta came from one of the offices with two hands in her pockets and started to make inquiries”, an eyewitness who preferred not to be named stated.
He continued: “One of the EPS guys asked “who are you”? She responded: I am a police officer. And the EPS guy said if you are, will you remove your hands from your pocket to address the EPS boss (Unit 50)? She refused to comply and continued to talk”.
The report maintained that due to the “gross insubordination exhibited by the female officer”, the EPS agents to make officer Tarwin to comply by attempting to take her hands from her pockets while standing and addressing their boss.
“She (Tarwin) resisted. In the process, there was a scuffle for a few seconds. She became very lousy and went aflame”.
The report added that the non-compliance posture of officer Tarwin prompted some of her colleagues assigned at the police station to intervene by taking her into one of the offices to calm down.
But all of their efforts did not materialize.
Despite the alleged defiant posture of officer Tarwin, Director Roberts reportedly requested his men to walk out of the office.
While outdoor, Director Roberts phoned LNP Deputy Director for operations, Mr. Marvin Siakor to intervene.
“102 advised Director Roberts to leave the area. Before then, the lady was seen by one of the EPS officers tearing her own pants. She started making calls to a number of radio stations to fabricate lies”.
The alleged decision taken by officer Tarwin to phone few radio talk show hosts to raise an alarm over the incident prior to informing her bosses through an official complaint, signifies a high level of unprofessionalism on her part as a security officer.
Officer Tarwin failed to file an official complaint until lately after few media institutions and talk show hosts, including Costa have already flagged the incident on their respective platforms.
It remains unclear why the bags of rice which the LNP officers confiscated for not being safe for consumption were not turned over to the Ministry of Commerce to establish whether or not they were expired as claimed by officer Tarwin.
According to a report, the rice spent few days at the police station prior to Director Roberts negotiating for it release to the owners.
Meanwhile, FrontPageAfrica has established that a formal complaint has been filed by officer Tarwin against Director Roberts and his agents who were on the scene to her bosses, who in turn forwarded same to the Minister of Justice, Counselor Frank Musa Dean.
