Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>The Antoinette Tubman Stadium will shortly resume the hosting of night games in the Orange National League following the installation of the floodlights at the stadium.<\/p>\n

It has been a couple of years since the stadium last hosted nighttime games due to an inadequate lighting system at the stadium. The stadium has been temporarily closed since early January, following the commencement of the project to restore lights at the match venue.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, the Liberia Football Association, through the project contractors, completed the installation of four floodlights which was followed by the switching on of the lights for \u201clight testing\u201d on Thursday. The floodlights system is valued at US$276,600, provided by the world football governing body, FIFA, from the entitlement of the LFA to FIFA Forward funds for the 2019-2022 cycle.<\/p>\n

This will be followed by the installation of an electronic scoreboard at the facility, according to the football association. In the absence of football activities in 2020 due to COVID-19, the LFA used the time to embark on several renovation projects at the stadium, including the re-roofing of the ATS, and fencing of the George Weah Technical Center in Careysburg.<\/p>\n

Later, in 2022, the LFA, with support from the Romanian Football Association, completed the installation of bucket seats at the \u201cAround VIP\u201d sections of the stadium. The entire facility could take a different shape later this year when the football association completes the renovation of its headquarters in the SKD Boulevard community.<\/p>\n

This, LFA President Mustapha Raji believes, will give the FA \u201croom to improve and partition the Antoinette Tubman Stadium so that the facility can meet up with the basic requirements to host international matches.\u201d<\/p>\n
