Two-time defeated Montserrado County senatorial candidate Sheikh Al-Moustapha Kouyateh says it is very saddened and unthinkable that Liberia\u2019s diplomatic image continues to suffer a setback because of alleged irresponsible leadership by the George Manneh Weah \u2013 led government.<\/p>\n

The former member of the governing Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) alleges an unease in the country as the citizenry allegedly witness the rigging of the future of their children by the Weah \u2013 led government, evidenced by misapplications of funds and mishandling of power.<\/p>\n

Addressing a press conference over the weekend at his office, Kouyateh called on President Weah to responsibly act in the interest of the country\u2019s sovereignty to retrieve all diplomatic passports in circulation for the purpose of ensuring these passports do not continue to land in the hands of unscrupulous individuals and on some occasions criminals.<\/p>\n

According to Kouyateh, it is clear that since the inception of the CDC \u2013 led government, the issue of the holders of the country\u2019s diplomatic passports continues to undermine the good image of the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt started with former Director of Passports, Mr. Andrew Wonploe, and what was shameful was that Mr. Wonploe was prosecuted and acquitted by the justice system of President Weah \u2013 led government on grounds that there was not sufficient evidence to convict him,\u201d Mr. Kouyateh alleged.<\/p>\n

Kouyateh also mentioned the arrest of Sheik Bassirou Kante in the United States for alleged money laundering, adding that there are many more with Liberia\u2019s diplomatic passports that are clandestinely involved with illegal businesses and money laundering.<\/p>\n

He urged the US government and other friendly countries to scrutinize every official and diplomatic passport holder at every entry point, something he said will ensure full protection for the diplomatic image of Liberia.<\/p>\n

Mr. Kouyateh explained that it is so sad that the once valuable Liberian diplomatic passport has become a questionable dossier due to fraudulent attributes of the Weah \u2013 led government.<\/p>\n

He further indicated that the future of the country remains bleak as officials of the Weah \u2013 led government\u2019s desire for wealth has allegedly invented misapplication, fraud, and unceasing corruption as a system of governance to the detriment of the citizenry.<\/p>\n

\u201cHowever, I am calling on President Weah to rethink his decision for the country as he promised prior to the 2017 Presidential elections,\u201d Kouyateh pleaded.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe recent report of the GAC (General Auditing Commission) is a clear manifestation that the Government of Liberia headed by President Weah lacks the ability to lead the Liberian people for the next 6 years,\u201d Kouyateh claimed.<\/p>\n

He called on the international community to sanction President Weah and his officials of Government that are allegedly involved in corruption.<\/p>\n
