Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>The United Nations in Liberia has expressed its deepest condolences to the family, the Government, and the people of Liberia over the passing of popular gospel artist Moses Swaray.<\/p>\n

Reports indicate that the late singing sensation, who was the winner of the yearly United Nations and Government of Liberia- organized nationwide \u2018A Star is Born Singing Competition,\u2019 met his tragic demise after an accident in Minnesota, the United States, on July 16.<\/p>\n

At age 20, the late Moses Swaray rose to a national singing sensation after joining over one thousand young people across Liberia to audition for the singing competition in 2007.<\/p>\n

In December that year, he was crowned the winner at a well-attended event at the Unity Conference Centre, Hotel Africa, by then Liberian President, Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, who congratulated him and said he was a blessing to Liberia.<\/p>\n

During his reign as the singing competition winner, Moses was an ambassador for peace. He worked with the UN peacekeeping mission (UNMIL) and other UN agencies to organize outreach events and sing songs on peace and reconciliation, the harmful effect of SGBV and stopping rape, the campaign against polio, and other pertinent social issues. He was also an advocate for persons living with albinism.<\/p>\n

Therefore, the UN Country Team prays that Moses\u2019 legacy as a peace ambassador and an advocate for social issues is upheld and that his soul rests in peace.<\/p>\n
