At present, it is the gateway to the Liberian economy as it serves as the biggest import and export route. In the future, it continues to be modernized and improved upon to serve its strategic importance to the Liberian economy.<\/p>\n

This is the story of the Freeport of Monrovia which has been captured in a documentary film that premiered last Friday at the Ministerial Complex.<\/p>\n

Produced by APM Terminals Liberia\u2019s outgoing MD, Jonathan Graham, and directed by Ghanaian filmmaker Bismark Aryee, the 31- minute long documentary combines storytelling from the perspective of different stakeholders of the Port and classical cinematography to shed light on the history of the Freeport and current advancements being witnessed.<\/p>\n

The film brings out rich and diverse angles of the role that the Freeport of Monrovia has played in Liberia\u2019s significant milestones. It also contains anecdotes on how various stakeholders have contributed to the growth of the Port and how strong partnerships are driving the forward movement of this critical economic infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Attendants at the premiere included workers at the Freeport of Monrovia and their families, representatives from government and Port agencies, members of the Liberian business community, the diplomatic community, and the media.<\/p>\n

Liberian business magnate and Chief Executive of the GLS Group, Peter Malcolm King who was impressed with the film underscored the importance of documenting such stories.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an obviously brilliant piece of documentary. There\u2019s a lot to learn about the Freeport from this documentary but more importantly, it gives you a sense of how important this facility is to the economy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough this film, all of us who work directly and indirectly with the Freeport of Monrovia can see how our work impacts the generality of the Liberian people. It also encourages Port stakeholders to continue to work together to improve this Port so it can serve its strategic purpose for generations to come,\u201d Malcolm King remarked.<\/p>\n

The film is expected to show on APM Terminals Liberia online platforms as well as on pages of other Port stakeholders and selected media platforms.<\/p>\n
