Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>The National Chairman of the opposition Unity Party, Rev. Luther Tarpeh, vows to make President Weah a one-term President, for what he calls leading Liberia wrongly.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo be honest with you, the Unity Party will make this President and his government a one-term President for leading this country wrongly\u201d, Chairman Tarpeh said over the weekend when he spoke to the Voice of America or VOA while in the United States.<\/p>\n

He expresses optimism about UP defeating the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change based on credibility, competence and integrity in the 2023 Presidential and Legislative elections.<\/p>\n

According to Rev. Tarpeh, the current situation in Liberia can only be overcome and resolved by electing a new political leadership to halt the massive suffering being inflicted on Liberians by the CDC-led government.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur citizens in the United States want a good country that they all can be proud of; that\u2019s why they think that our standard bearer is the best alternative to end this problem; these are things that prompting them to express their displeasure about this CDC government\u201d, he notes.<\/p>\n

He argues that the standard bearer of the UP, former Vice President Joseph N. Boakai is capable and he\u2019s the best political leader that can usher in a leadership the Liberian people are seeking.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs we speak, the UP is trying to strategize and collaborate with other political parties to make sure that President Weah and his CDC government become a one-term President.<\/p>\n

We have had a national convention and our political leader was overwhelmingly elected, and we also realized that to unseat this weak government, there\u2019s a need to mobilize and collaborate with other political parties to end their rule.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chairman Tarpeh explains that based on some of their strategies, the UP is beginning to see number of political parties that desire collaborating with them to bring the CDC misrule to an end.<\/p>\n

At the same time, he rubbishes argument that former Vice President Boakai isn\u2019t strong enough to handle and steer the affairs of the country.<\/p>\n

He says it is sad and unfortunate for people to think that the UP standard bearer won\u2019t be able to steer the affairs of the country due to old age.<\/p>\n

Tarpeh counters that age is just a number, saying that Boakai, who turns 78 by November 30th, is full of energy and he has the competence and experience to lead Liberia to a bright future.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt will interest anyone to know that one of the things the young people will advocate for in these elections is age-old person, who has all the experience, but it will interest you also to know that the young man who\u2019s ruling Liberia hasn\u2019t produced any economic benefits for the country and its citizens\u201d, he adds. <\/b><\/p>\n
