Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>Former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf is expected to lead an array of high profiled women of substance in Liberia on Saturday, December 17 at the Bella Cassa Hotel in sinkor.<\/p>\n

The event is part of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and its Eta Beta Omega Chapter annual ball to raise funds for the organization\u2019s charity and social work in Liberia.<\/p>\n

Reports of the event come amid rumors about the death of Mrs. Sirleaf who is currently participating in a Private Roundtable with U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, at the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) in Washington, DC.<\/p>\n

The Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Presidential Center for Women and Development, this week issued a statement saying, it was shocked, dismayed and disturbed by the false rumors circulating over social media, claiming that the former Liberian president is dead.<\/p>\n

In an official reaction, the Director of Communications and Research for the Center, Christopher Ifeanyi-Nwanze, writes: \u201cFalse rumors of this nature are very dangerous and must not be given ground to take root. Madam Sirleaf is alive and well.\u201d<\/p>\n

He maintains that Mrs. Sirleaf is currently in the United States, attending international events and will participate in next week\u2019s US-Africa Leaders\u2019 Summit with President Joe Biden.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, former President Sirleaf is expected in the country before December 17 to lead the Alpha Kapa Alpha event at the Belle Cassa Hotel.<\/p>\n
