Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>Contrary to reports that the Liberia Electricity Corporation has fined former House Speaker, now Senator of Margibi County, Emmanuel Nuquay, the Corporation says it is occupants renting\/leasing his property that were involved with the power theft.<\/p>\n

The LEC clarified that the estate at which the power theft was discovered is not where Sen. Nuquay resides.<\/p>\n

\u201cLEC wishes to inform the general public that Senator Emmanuel Nuquay was not involved in any act of power theft as alleged. Rather, and according to investigation findings, tenants renting stores and apartments from Senator Nuquay at a commercial building had illegally connected their stores and were disconnected by LEC,\u201d the Corporation said in a statement.<\/p>\n

The LEC further disclosed that Sen. Nuquay cooperated with LEC to ensure that the relevant fines were paid by his tenants through his lawyer. A receipt was issued by LEC for the fines in the name of the property owner and not the tenants.<\/p>\n
