Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>Brussels Airlines has described as completely incorrect recent reports by the Liberia Airport Authority (LAA) and the Liberia Civil Aviation Authority (LCAA) that the Roberts International Airport (RIA) has passed the airliner\u2019s compliance audit.<\/p>\n

The LAA and LCAA said in a release a fortnight ago that they concluded a round table discussion with Brussels Airlines on January 11, 2023 that was focused on an audit conducted by the airlines.<\/p>\n

The roundtable, according to the regulator, was meant to address Brussels Airlines\u2019 concerns regarding compliance, calibration of the navigation equipment, the air traffic control tower, runway, and stand, as well as security setup.<\/p>\n

According to the LAA release, the Brussels Airlines team, which was represented at the meeting by the country director, station and sales managers, Joeri Hendrickx, Wim Van den Bergh, Philippe Saeys-Desmedt, Marjolein Six, Harbelda J. Williams, Ama Harris, and Patrick Lucq, were pleased with the advancements made by the management teams of both LAA and LCAA after hearing those responses \u2014 a similar sentiment that was shared by an international auditor for compliance and security.<\/p>\n

In reaction, Brussels Airlines said that the audit process is still ongoing and it is manipulative that some would say that it has been completed, and that the RIA has been given a passing mark.<\/p>\n

The Airliner added that pieces of information contained in the release were incorrect and resulted in the manipulation of public perception of the outcome and intent of the meeting.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe deeply regret the communication from LAA that was published without our consultation whatsoever, which results in the manipulation of the public perception on the outcome and the intent of the meeting that was held on 11th January 2023,\u201d Brussels Airlines told the Daily Observer in a communication that demanded corrections to the release which was published by the paper.<\/p>\n

\u201cBrussels Airlines recognises that progress has been made by the Liberian Airport Authorities towards fixing certain issues that the airport currently faces but there is still a lot to do. The audit has not been officially closed,\u201d Brussels said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe airline\u2019s presence in Monrovia and the different meetings that took place were set up to speed up the progress,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n

The Airliner has therefore requested what it termed as a \u201cSteerCo\u201d, with regular and structural exchanges with the local and headquarters’ representatives of Brussels Airlines, the LAA, and other Liberia Airport Authorities. This meeting setup will ensure continuous and close follow-up.<\/p>\n
