Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>President George Manneh Weah has joined in the celebration of the 60th birth anniversary of Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor, describing her as \u201ca patriot of the highest order, and an exemplary public servant.\u201d<\/p>\n

President Weah said Madam Taylor is a \u201cwoman of substance, a woman of faith and a woman of endurance.\u201d<\/p>\n

He made the comments Monday at a Fund Raising Dinner Marking the 60th Birth Anniversary of VP Taylor and Unveiling of a Mosaic Painting titled: The Liberian Voices.<\/p>\n

\u201cMadam Vice President, when we should have been bestowing honor upon you on this your Natal Day, you have instead demonstrated a deep sense of selflessness by choosing to honor us, something that is a rarity in humanity,\u201d Pres. Weah said.<\/p>\n

He noted that Madam Taylor has risen to a higher height by lifting up women in the nation who have worked and are still working for change and transformation.<\/p>\n

According to him, the Vice President is also working to change and transform \u201cwomen who have been trailblazers in their own rights. Women who have broken glass ceilings. Women who have boldly gone where many have feared to go. Women who have suffered, and endured.<\/p>\n

Pres. Weah stated that by lifting Liberian women up in this way, VP Taylor is raising the hopes, dreams and aspirations of all Liberians by amplifying and re-echoing the voices of these great Liberian women.<\/p>\n

The President emphasized that all he has done, and continue to do for the advancement of women, comes out of his \u201cdeepest conviction\u201d that in Liberia, women are the roots upon which the trees of the nationhood can grow and blossom, bringing light and love to all, working in tandem with their Administration to realize the gains for a better and stronger Liberia.<\/p>\n

At the same time, he saluted strong Liberian women, stating that their unrelenting efforts, strong advocacies, and persistent attitudes have enabled them to ride out the stormy seas, and advance Liberia to a peaceful shore.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou continue to be a firm voice in sustaining the peace in Liberia. As Liberia\u2019s Feminist-in-Chief, I am grateful to all of you, but especially to two of the strongest women that I have ever known. I speak of no other than Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and you, Madam Jewel Howard-Taylor,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
