Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has preselected FIFA-badged referee Hassan Corneh and FIFA-badged assistant referee Joel Doe for the TotalEnergies men\u2019s under-20 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Cairo, Egypt.<\/p>\n

Corneh and Doe are part of 46 referees and assistant referees (23 per category), two women\u2019s referees, four assistant referees and six video assistant referees.<\/p>\n

The referees and assistant referees will undergo a preparatory course in Cairo from 13-18 February following their arrivals on 12 February.<\/p>\n

According to CAF head of refereeing and football technology Noumandiez Desire Doue, they will undergo physical and theoretical tests and practical training during the course.<\/p>\n

Doue said unsuccessful candidates will return home and their football associations will bear all related costs.<\/p>\n

He said the final list of referees\/assistant referees appointed to the finals will be published on 17 February.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile-Three Liberians have been selected to participate in the second edition of the West African Football Union (WAFU Zone \u2018A\u2019) Nations Cup finals in Cape Verde from 20-30 January.<\/p>\n

They are FIFA-badged referee Sylvina Garnett and FIFA-badged assistant referee Hannah Moses, who received their badges for 2023 on 14 January.<\/p>\n

Former Class \u2018A\u2019 referee Beatrice Mardea Edwins will serve as a security officer.<\/p>\n

Edwins is the Liberia National Police deputy commander at depot eight in the Red Light community.<\/p>\n

Hosts Cape Verde, champions Senegal, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Gambia, Mali and Mauritania are expected to participate in the tournament.<\/p>\n

Liberia Female international FIFA Badge Referee Sylvina Garnett served as reserved referee in the opening Match of the Women\u2019s WAFU Tournament between Host Cape Verde and Guinea Bissau.<\/p>\n

Hosts Cape Verde defeated Guinea Bissau 4-0 in their opening Match in the Women\u2019s WAFU Tournament.<\/p>\n
