Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>Ahead of the African Under -20 nations cup three Liberian international match officials have started preparatory training.<\/p>\n

Liberia\u2019s FIFA-badged referee Hassan Corneh and FIFA-badged assistant referee Joel Doe are undergoing a preparatory course for the TotalEnergies men\u2019s under-20 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Cairo, Egypt.<\/p>\n

Corneh and Doe, who were preselected by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on 17 January, left Monrovia for Cairo on 12 February.<\/p>\n

They are part of 46 referees and assistant referees (23 per category), two women\u2019s referees, four assistant referees and six video assistant referees, who are undergoing the preparatory course from 13-18 February.<\/p>\n

According to CAF head of refereeing and football technology Noumandiez Desire Doue, they will undergo physical and theoretical tests and practical training during the course.<\/p>\n

Doue said unsuccessful candidates will return home and their football associations will bear all related costs.<\/p>\n

He said the final list of referees\/assistant referees appointed to the finals will be published on 17 February.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile former FIFA badge referee George Rogers arrived in Egypt for men\u2019s Afcon under-20<\/p>\n

The Former FIFA-badged referee is in Cairo to serve as an assistant general coordinator for the 2023 men\u2019s under-20 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Egypt.<\/p>\n

Rogers, who left Monrovia on 13 February, was selected by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on 30 January.<\/p>\n

He will be based in Cairo from 14 February to 12 March for the finals, which will be played in Cairo, Alexandria and Ismailia from 19 February to 11 March.<\/p>\n

Rogers, who retired a year ago, is a certified coach, having completed a Liberia Football Association Diploma \u2018D\u2019 coaching course from 17-24 October 2022.<\/p>\n
