Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>Residents of Ben\u2019s Town in Marshall City have expressed dissatisfaction over East International Construction Company\u2019s rock-crushing machine vibration and sound, which have resulted in several homes being damaged.<\/p>\n

The controversial road construction company, which has raised the anger of the public and the National Legislature for its unsatisfactory handling of the Roberts International Airport highway construction project, has committed another offense against residents in Ben\u2019s town, Marshall City. This has resulted in several homes in that part of Liberia being destroyed gradually by crack-marks on the walls, ceiling tiles being dropped, and glass windows being destroyed at the East International Rock quarry site in the area.<\/p>\n

FrontPage Africa conducted an exclusive interview with community dwellers of Ben\u2019s town over the weekend and gathered that Greg Samuker, brother to Madam Josephine Harris, the owner of a million-dollar structure in the area, said that their house was already being built before the coming of East International Construction Company\u2019s rock quarry. It is situated in an area that should be a residential community.<\/p>\n

According to Samuker, every time East International decides to crush rocks using their rock-crushing machine, it can lead to several damages to their home. As a result, there have been several talks between the residents, the company, and the public works minister to address the situation, but nothing seems to work as the situation deepens.<\/p>\n

\u201cSince East International came in with their rock-crushing machine in the community, there has been no rest for our homes because each time they are crushing rocks with their machine, a heavy vibration can make the houses shake, resulting in cracks on the walls and destroyed window glasses,\u201d said Samuker.<\/p>\n

There have been several meetings with the company and the community about the damages caused, but nothing has seemed fruitful, according to Samuker.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are now appealing to the government of Liberia to see how best they can intervene by talking to the management of East international to find another location for such work to be done, which is causing more harm to the people of Ben\u2019s town, Marshall City,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Another resident in the area, Trokon Whea, said that as a result of the East International rock crushing and blasting, his fence is now being cracked, and his house wall has started to show cracking marks.<\/p>\n
