Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>Bong County: At the weekend in her District during the graduation ceremony of her vocational students, Bong County District #6 Representative Moima Briggs Mensah publicly declared support for Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor.<\/p>\n

This would be the first time that Rep. Mensah has ever declared support for the country\u2019s first female Vice President.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t take my hands from in front of me and place them in front of another person, Jewel Howard Taylor is one of us; I will support her fully\u201d.<\/p>\n

These were the exact words of Representative Mensah at the ceremony that was also attended by the Vice President.<\/p>\n

According to her, VP Howard-Taylor is a descendant of the county and as such, there is a sturdy need for a daughter of the county to be supported in whatever political brawl she engages in; adding that the dividends will come thereafter.<\/p>\n

The Bong County District #6 Lawmaker said it would make no sense for her and her supporters to stand with another person rather than Jewel who has lived and worked for the county and Liberia by extension.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe people of District #6, you asked me to build your town hall, I did. You asked me to build your market, I did. You asked me to provide safe drinking water, I did. I have done all of the things you asked me to do. I have worked for you. So, during the campaign, I will just sit for you to play your part for Jewel Howard Taylor and me,\u201d Rep. Briggs said.<\/p>\n

Representative Mensah\u2019s decision to support Jewel has shocked many people in the county. Since her election, she has been seen at almost all political rallies with Unity Party\u2019s Senator Prince K. Moye.<\/p>\n

It won\u2019t have been a surprise for the lawmaker to declare support for Joseph N. Boakai but her declaration for Jewel has surprised many citizens of the county due to her proximity to UP officials.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, less than four days after she professed support for the CDC vice Standard Bearer, William Kollie, the county\u2019s former inspector has withdrawn his support from her; terming her decision as a complete disrespect to her supporters.<\/p>\n

Kollie told a press conference that Representative Mensah should have consulted her supporters before making such a huge political declaration.<\/p>\n

He argues that the lawmaker has shown a high core level of poor leadership by single-handedly declaring support for Jewel.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to clearly tell the public that I am no longer going to support Hon. Mensah because she has disrespected us as supporters,\u201d Kollie said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat was she thinking? Does she feel that she alone can make Jewel win or is she telling us that we are not important anymore?<\/p>\n

The former Bong County Inspector heavily supported the election of Representative Mensah in the 2017 elections.<\/p>\n
