Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>Concerns are mounting here over the refusal of former Chief Justice Gloria Musu Scott to submit to police inquiries following the horror at her home that left one of her daughters dead and others injured.<\/p>\n

The home of Cllr. Scott was said to have been attacked on the night of Wednesday, February 22, leaving one of her daughters dead and others injured.<\/p>\n

The attack came after she had reported two previous waves of attacks on her home in days alarming that her life was at risk. The police did nothing to prevent the third wave of attacks which led to her daughter\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

Attempts by investigators to speak with the former chief justice have proven futile as she remains tight-lipped towards the police.<\/p>\n

The police on Thursday, March 2, announced that it had invited several individuals including the former Chief Justice occupants of the house at the time of the horrific incident to appear for questioning.<\/p>\n

Those the police claimed to have invited include Cllr. Scott, Gertrude Newton, Rebecca Youdeh Wisner and Alice Johnson to appear at the headquarters of the Liberia National Police in connection to the alleged armed robbery incident.<\/p>\n

The police said it would be left with no option to take appropriate legal action through the court if these individuals failed to honor the invitation slated for today March 3.<\/p>\n

The incident has left several talking points with legal minds debating the former Chief Justice\u2019s refusal to directly speak to investigators.<\/p>\n

Some say the refusal of Cllr. Scott, a former Chief Justice undermines the entire case as she should be aware of the workings of cases of such nature-that establishing the facts and tracking perpetrators would require her own testimony.<\/p>\n

This paper has gathered that due to the high-profile nature of the case, the police intend to widen the investigation to include neighbors and anyone who may have had any relationship with the family to establish the truth behind the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice.<\/p>\n

There are some who believe that wo ever may have carried out the act had some connection from within.<\/p>\n

At present, electricians who worked at the building the day of the incidents are being questioned along with private security guards that were on duty the night of the incident.<\/p>\n

Monrovia City Mayor Jefferson Koijee and Deputy City Police chief for operation Varlee Telleh were questioned on Wednesday in connection with the murder-attack incident.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, group of Liberian women protested on the grounds of the Capitol Building calling for justice to be served in the case.<\/p>\n

Their peaceful assembly was backed by the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) which denounced the killing of Charloe.<\/p>\n

\u201cViolence against any Liberian citizen, regardless of the motivation, is unacceptable. This is so especially violence against the girl-child,\u201d Mr. Mulbah Morlu, Chairman of the CDC said in a statement Thursday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe cannot sit idly by and allow murderers of women and children, or any human being, to go unpunished,\u201d he said, adding that \u201cPeople who commit mayhem against innocent people must be speedily arrested, prosecuted within the confines of the due process of the law, and when convicted, sent to jail where they belong.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said the CDC has extended its condolences to the deceased\u2019s mother and siblings outside Monrovia and planned to reach out to the deceased family as an institution in the coming day.<\/p>\n

The party thanked the women group saying \u201cWomen\u2019s action was in the right direction; that\u2019s why we told our women to join.\u201d<\/p>\n

The CDC has also elevated the case by calling for an autopsy to be conducted on the body as the party declared 7 days mourning.-Othello B. Garblah<\/p>\n
