Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>The Charge\u0301 d\u2019Affaires of the Chinese embassy in Liberia, Xu Kun, has disclosed his country’s readiness to help Liberians pursue a better life.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe would like to share our experience with Liberian people and provide assistance within our own capacity so that we can help Liberian people to pursue a better life,\u201d Xu said in remarks at the signing Ceremony of an Agreement on China-Liberia Paired Hospital Cooperation Mechanism and Donation Ceremony to JFK Medical Center.<\/p>\n

Xu disclosed at the event that the project budget is up to US$ 1 million, saying it will help JFK hospital to improve the accuracy of diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases as well as the ability to rescue emergency and severe cases.<\/p>\n

He added that China is firmly committed to supporting Liberia\u2019s social and economic development.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe face many of the same challenges in a wide range of fields. Not so long ago, Chinese people also suffered from disease, which was resulted from the poor public healthcare system and poor basic medical service system,\u201d he said. \u201cSo we feel real empathy for Liberians and what they have been through.\u201d<\/p>\n

Xu indicated that China has always cared about the health and safety of the Liberian people, and has always treated the difficulties faced by the Liberian people \u201cas our own since we are a good partner.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are therefore ready to help in every way possible to ensure that Liberians pursue a better life,\u201d he said while disclosing how China has overcome some of its enormous social problems and is now a striving vibrant society.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday, most Chinese people are living a better life. The latest data shows that the average life expectancy of Chinese people has risen from 35 years in 1949, the year of the founding of the People\u2019s Republic of China, to 78.2 years in 2021.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Xu has disclosed China is also planning to donate a batch of aid materials to JFK hospital including 2 respirators, 16 oxygen masks, 240 boxes of anti-malarial drugs, and 1200 surgical masks.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur cooperation is based on the principle of equality, mutual respect, noninterference of internal affairs, and win-win cooperation. It is also in line with the Belt and Road initiative and Pro-Poor Agenda for prosperity and development,\u201d the Chinese Charge d\u2019Affairs said.<\/p>\n

He added that the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), in October of 2022, the party drew a blueprint for advancing national rejuvenation through a Chinese path to modernization.<\/p>\n

That blueprint provides a great opportunity for the development of bilateral relations between Liberia and China, he said.<\/p>\n
