Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>The Executive Mansion Press Corps (EMPC) says it is saddened by the passing of one of its members, G. Naway Gumeh of the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS).<\/p>\n

This sad event occurred on April 21, in Gbarnga, Bong County after a brief illness. Gumeh served as an LBS newscaster and reporter. The outgoing Chairperson of the Executive Mansion Press Corps, Dennise Nimpson, has described the passing of Gumeh as shocking and called on the family of the deceased to take solace in the Lord.<\/p>\n

Though the cause of the death of the young media sensation has not been officially revealed, reports indicate that the sickness that he succumbed to must have been a spiritual attack. Gumeh is reported to have died at the Christ Vision International Church in Gbarnga where he sought spiritual healing for days.<\/p>\n

Before his demise, Gumeh worked for top media institutions in Monrovia, beginning his young career with Prime F. M., then onto Voice of Liberia, and finally the nation’s premier, Liberia Broadcasting System\u2014a workstation at which he worked till his demise.<\/p>\n

“Gumeh was one of the brightest minds. He was assigned at the Executive mansion first from Prime, later the Voice of Liberia, and remained assigned as ELBC reporter before his death,” a release signed by EMPC Secretary-General elect, Alvin Worzi, quotes the outgoing chairperson as saying.<\/p>\n

Nimpson said there were many great moments shared by Gumeh with colleagues including President George M. Weah’s nationwide tour that was held in 2022.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the outgoing President of the Executive Mansion Press Corps, in collaboration with the newly elected leadership has with immediate effect suspended the inauguration scheduled for April 28, 2023.<\/p>\n

Chairperson Nimpson noted that the public and all those duly concerned will be informed of the new date following the funeral arrangements of the late journalist.<\/p>\n

Other colleagues of the Executive Mansion Press Corps have also described the passing of our colleague as sad and extended condolences to his family.<\/p>\n
