Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>Several recordings released over the weekend by lawyers representing Monrovia City Mayor, Jefferson Koijee have revealed what they termed as a ploy by several prominent Liberians based in the United States to link the Mayor Koijee to several crimes that have taken place across the country.<\/p>\n

On the recordings are voices believed to be of former TRC Commissioner Jerome Verdier; Owner of Spoon Network and indicted felon, Stanton Witherspoon; dismissed NSA Agent, Sheik Sackor; dismissed Deputy LIGIS Director, Alex Williams; dismissed Deputy Information Minister Eugene Fahngon; and MCC Police Director Thomas Garwo.<\/p>\n

In the recordings, copy of which are in the possession of the Daily Observer, the men in conversation with Director Garwo promised to work out a plan to seek asylum for the MCC Police Chief if he revealed sensitive and damning information on the Mayor of Monrovia, Jefferson Koijee.<\/p>\n

\u201cVerdier and his alleged co-conspirators\u2019 key intent as per the recording is to have the Weah-led government destabilized, creating fear and pandemonium and a gloomy outlook of the country on the global scene,\u201d the Mayor\u2019s lead lawyer, Cllr. Arthur Johnson said at a press conference in Monrovia last week.<\/b><\/p>\n

Johnson noted that the Verdier and his team\u2019s continuous negative characterization of Mayor Koijee is due to his rising influence and youthful exuberance which projects him as the future of the Ruling CDC.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe cartel sits in the US, deceiving the Immigration system in falsifying stories that makes the Liberian Government appear fearsome, terrible and on some manhunt spree for its critics or detractors,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy their actions the US Immigration gets misled into providing asylum to individuals who have given misleading and unverified information or basically distorted facts by Verdier.\u201d<\/p>\n

As per the recordings, Verdier and others appeared to have drafted a purported letter of resignation for Director Garwo to sign and requested other documents in Monrovia to validate their plan with the Director.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs part of the devilish plan, the team managed to have Director Garwo link the Mayor to happenings at the home of the Former Chief Justice Gloria Musu Scott,\u201d Cllr. Johnson disclosed at last week’s press conference.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlready, information available indicates that the Mayor has no knowledge of happenings at the home of the ex-Chief Justice but the explanation as requested by the team from Garwo was to validate their earlier claims that Jefferson Koijee masterminded the incident using another MCC Agent, Varlee Terleh.\u201d<\/p>\n

Johnson added that the \u201cconcocted plan\u201d by Jerome Verdier and others comes on the heels of a massive pronouncement on SPOON TV that the Monrovia City Mayor had everything to do with what happened at the home of the ex-Chief Justice.<\/p>\n

The MCC head lead lawyer has also accused Verdier of leading a consistent campaign of attacks against the character of his client, dating as far back as far back as the beginning of the Weah administration. \u201cHe has linked Mayor Koijee to be a Child Soldier, linked to an affair with his ex-wife and many other issues that have since been sufficiently debunked by many,\u201d Johnson said.<\/p>\n
