Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>One of the historical churches in Liberia, the Faith Healing Temple of Jesus Christ on the Bushrod Island on November 4 commenced its golden jubilee celebrations with a call for Liberians to live a holy life for God.<\/p>\n

The theme for this year\u2019s celebration, according to the pastor of the Church Rev. Henry Saway, is \u201cAnd The Fiftieth Year Shall Be A Year Of Jubilee Unto You\u201d which is taken from the book of Leviticus 25: 10.<\/p>\n

The Faith Healing Temple of Jesus Christ was founded in 1971 by Mother Wilhelmina Dukuly. She was affectionately called Mother Dukuly by all, and she was also well known for her prophetic radio messages aired on ELBC long before the 1990 civil crisis.<\/p>\n

The church since its foundation has had three pastors as head of the church which include the founder Mother Wilhelmina Bryant Dukuly and Bishop Mai Roberts who are all late and current pastor is Henry Saway. Bishop Robert joined the Faith Healing Temple in 1971 as a minister under its founder, the legendary Wilhelmina Bryant Dukuly.<\/p>\n

She took over as head pastor of Faith Healing Temple following the demise of Mother Dukuly in 1990 amid huge doubts over whether she could ably fit in the shoes of the outspoken founder \u2013 something she did resoundingly.<\/p>\n

Bishop Roberts went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ early Monday, January 28, 2019 at the age of 97. Pastor Saway took over from Bishop Robert since then and has been leading the church.<\/p>\n

At a press conference held on Saturday at the Church, Rev. Saway called on Liberians at home and abroad to unite and build a prosperous nation guided by God.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have been speaking to my members that they should serve the Lord in spirit and in truth. I tell them to try to live to be holy because without holiness no man can see God,\u201d Rev. Saway said.<\/p>\n

According to Pastor Saway, it is time for Liberians to make peace with one another, because the Year of Jubilee is a time of freedom. \u201cIf you owe people you waive it because it is time to be happy with one another,\u201d Pastor Saway told reporters.<\/p>\n

He asserted that Since 1971, Faith Healing Temple has stood the test of time in spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ, and the church vision is to transform lives of the people of Liberia to fear God and live a Christian life.<\/p>\n

Rev. Saway disclosed that the church in 50 years has established branches in Bomi and Grand Bassa Counties with another branch in Gardnerville and soon to be a full church in Johnsonville.<\/p>\n

Outlining events marking the commemoration of the Church\u2019s 50th anniversary, Pastor Saway said the celebration which started on November 4 with a grand musical concert will run up to the 14th of November.<\/p>\n

According to the calendar of events, Saturday was the church harvest where members sold food on the grounds of the church followed by a divine worship and communion service on November 7, where they give God the Glory for 50 years preaching the word of God. On Monday, November 8 comes a youth day programme where the young people of the church will showcase their talents.<\/p>\n

There will be a contest between the men and women on Tuesday at the church ground called God\u2019s Giving day. While on Wednesday is the anniversary healing service, Thursday is special memories and appreciation day and feed the hungry while Friday will be the time the past speaks to the nation called broadcast service.<\/p>\n

Saturday November 13 is when the church has its fellowship and sports day. Sunday will be the climax of the celeration with a thanksgiving service and a grand Dinner at the executive pavilion.<\/p>\n

Flanked by the Chairperson of the Anniversary Committee Charles Collins stressed the importance of the celebration and called on Liberians at home and abroad to join the events.<\/p>\n

He said the church appreciates all of its members for their contribution to the anniversary and the church and said at 50 is time for celebration in the lord.<\/p>\n

He paid special tribute to members of the church that are in the United States and other parts of the world for their support to the Golden Jubilee celebration.<\/p>\n
