Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>A group of pro-government protesters on June 5, demanded the immediate resignation of Justice Minister Musa Dean over what they called his failure to release the autopsy report on the gruesome murder of Charloe Musu, daughter of former Chief Justice, Gloria Musu Scott.<\/p>\n

Musu was stabbed during an alleged home invasion by unidentified men at the former chief justice\u2019s residence in Brewerville, outside Monrovia.<\/p>\n

Weeks after the incident occurred, the Liberia National Police (LNP) began an investigation and at one point declared Monrovia City Mayor, Jefferson Koijee, and Monrovia City police operations officer, Varlee Telleh, as persons of interest.<\/p>\n

The concerned group is requesting the full investigative report, disclosing the names of the deceased\u2019s murderers, so that justice can be served. \u201cWe want justice for Musu. Let Musah Dean give the police report or resign,\u201d said Happiness Johnson, one of the protesters.<\/p>\n

Johnson and her fellow protesters assembled earlier at the capitol building, chanting \u201cMusah Dean must go\u201d, and \u201cWe need justice for Musu.\u201d<\/p>\n

They said that Dean must go if he is unable to serve the parents of the deceased justice. The protesters held placards, poster sheets with varying inscriptions, and wore T-shirts with the deceased’s photo.<\/p>\n

Days after the attack at the Scotts residence, the former chairman of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC), Cllr. Jerome Verdier accused Varlee Telleh of being the killer, adding that the MCC police topman acted on the orders of his boss, Mayor Koijee.<\/p>\n

Verdier’s revelation forced the police to invite Koijee and Telleh. Cllr. ArturJohnson, after the questioning, told the media that his clients were only questioned about their whereabouts during the incident that occurred at the former chief justice’s home, to which they responded properly, and that in the end, the police did find many charges.<\/p>\n

\u201cThree months ago, Musu died without any hay or tail. Musa Dean refused to give the report,\u201d said Hawa Praise. \u201cWe want him to resign.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since Koijee and Telleh were invited, neither the LNP nor the Ministry of Justice has made any official statements.<\/p>\n

“We have gone three months\u2019 since the autopsy was conducted, and the family has been appealing to the government to give the body, but the government has refused,” said Cynthia Cooper. “We need justice until we will not rest.”<\/p>\n

According to an autopsy report conducted by a government-hired pathologist, Dr. Benedict Kolee, the deceased died as a result of excessive bleeding.<\/p>\n

Dr. Benedict Kolee noted that a sharp object was used to piece the late Charlie many times in a very violent manner and that the injuries put a blood vessel under her rib, causing her to bleed profusely outside and inside.<\/p>\n

The deceased was a niece of former Justice Scott.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe minister, he\u2019s a problem. He\u2019s hiding the full report and refusing to call the namesof thef people that killed Musu,\u201d said Happiness Tweh.<\/p>\n

In their petitions to the legislature, the group alleged that Dean knew the killer of Musu, but failed to disclose it to the public, therefore, a committee must be formed to sack him by vote if no confidence and appoint an independent council to further investigate Musu’s death.<\/p>\n

Receiving their petition on behalf of House Speaker Bhofal Chambers, Johnson Gwaikolo, a Nimba County District #9 lawmaker, assured the protesters that their concerns would be looked into through various committees.<\/p>\n
