Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>The Ann Sandell Independent School, situated in the police academy community in Paynesville, as part of an effort towards enhancing the capacities of its students, has awarded several students for Academic Excellence and involvement in Extracurricular Activities in the course of the 2022\/2023 Academic School Year.<\/p>\n

The school, over the weekend, hosted its annual awards ceremony and awarded several students for higher marks in Quizzing, Spelling Bee, Press Club, Pageant, Football, Kickball, African Customer, and Birth Month Rally.<\/p>\n

<\/a>The program brought together several students, staff, parents, residents, and well-wishers with student Prince C. Gbelee, Davina Kortee, Joseph Kortee, Joyline Nonduah, Emmanuel Doelakeh, Grace K. Gboko, Lawrence Momo, David Myers and others certificated for being outstanding in the quizzing tournament.<\/p>\n

Explaining the full details of the Students\u2019 Awards Ceremony, Ann Sandell Independent School Principal, Boimah K. Yoryor said the program was part of an effort to promote academic and other extracurricular activities of students\u2019 involvement in their educational sojourn.<\/p>\n

He said a Spelling Bee and Quizzing competitions were spiced up with a pageant competition in the school auditorium, where the students were able to showcase their talents and creativity and ended with an African Custom Day and Birth Month Rally, with students dressing up in traditional African attire and celebrating their birth month rally which was all held to attract them in their upbringing of setting goals and choosing a career path.<\/p>\n

He further said: \u201cExtracurricular activities can attract students to going to school due to the excitement and everything they see their friends doing and these kinds of extra-school functions help students set goals with less pressure and in a timely manner,\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Mr. Yoryor, the annual event aims to attract more students to his school and keep those who are within the school not only through promoting academic activities but as well involving other extracurricular programs.<\/p>\n

He at the same time, called on the government of Liberia to put more attention to the education sector to make Liberia a strong nation in West Africa.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo have a strong and developed country at the moment requires a developing mind so we need more support and effort from the government and its partners to invest more in education in this country,\u201d Mr. Yoryor added.<\/p>\n
