Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>STEM Club-Team Liberia Inc. in partnership with FIRST Global, a not-for-profit public charity organization, with an aim to inspire students from Liberia to explore the world of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) are expected to send five Liberians this year FIRST Global Robotic Challenge in Singapore.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s challenges will take place at the Singapore Expo, Singapore, from October 7-10. The team representing Liberia at this year\u2019s Challenge comprises five (5) high school students between the ages of 14-18 and two (2) adult mentors joining more than 180 countries represented by high school students to portray Science, Technology, Engineering, and mathematics innovations using robots to demonstrate the collective effort required to develop sustainable energy.<\/p>\n

<\/a>The theme of this year\u2019s FIRST Global Robotic Challenge, Hydrogen Horizon, calls on FIRST Global teams to reimagine the future of energy and create more sustainable ways to power our planet. As our dependence on energy continues to grow, it becomes increasingly important to innovate the solutions that will ensure a cleaner and more equitable energy future around the world. Hydrogen Horizon focuses specifically on the role of hydrogen in the planet\u2019s renewable energy and reduced carbon future. Hydrogen-based energy technologies allow for enhanced methods of carrying and storing the energy generated from renewables.<\/p>\n

Engaging Liberian students and the over two (2) million youths in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) are one of the most important factors in creating tomorrow\u2019s workforce that will solve Liberia and the world\u2019s pressing problems.<\/p>\n

This will be done by navigating their robots in a simulated game to produce hydrogen and use it to store, transport, and convert energy. The Singapore Expo, which will be held in Singapore, from October 7-10, is expected to contribute to the solution of the world\u2019s pressing issues using the tools of Science and Technology.<\/p>\n

The FIRST Global believes that by making science and technology as exciting as any other sport, we can inspire the world\u2019s two billion youth to pursue STEM fields and be the leaders who collectively solve our planet\u2019s most pressing problems.<\/p>\n
