Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>At least seven people have been arrested in the latest campaign related violence in Buehlay Town near Buutuo, which forced Rep. Samuel G. Kogar to escape unharmed.<\/p>\n

According to eyewitnesses, on Friday, September 29, 2023, Rep. Kogar and his supporters entered Buehlay for campaigning, but instead of Kogar using the road, he used the bush path to enter the town, while his supporters used the main thoroughfare.<\/p>\n

Mr. Dixon Koryean, a citizen of Buehlay now residing in Ganta, told the Daily Observer that upon their arrival, the citizens denied them access to the town hall, though some citizens were in support of Kogar\u2019s group using the hall.<\/p>\n

The back-and-forth between the two groups led to a serious argument, followed by a violent confrontation, forcing Rep. Kogar to abandon his campaign trail and escape the town unharmed.<\/p>\n

The reason for refusing to allow Rep. Kogar to use the town hall is yet to be established.<\/p>\n

An elderly man, Peter Mamehn, who traveled from the community, quoted Rep. Kogar\u2019s supporters, saying the reason Kogar refused to enter the town through the main road was that his opponents may have wanted to bewitch him \u2014 an allegation that could not be independently confirmed by this paper.<\/p>\n

Campaign related violence is said to be engulfing Nimba County, which has claimed the life of a 34-year-old man in the Twah River town of Vayenglay. Both the CDC and UP blame each other for the saga, but those arrested are believed to be UP supporters.<\/p>\n

In Gbehlay, another fellow was beaten in Karnplay Region, allegedly by supporters of Atty. Garrison Yealue, who is the campaign leader for the CDC in Gbehlay.<\/p>\n

In this recent violence, police are yet to know the identities of those involved in the violence, even though Rep. Kogar is running on the ticket of the People\u2019s Unification Party (PUP) of Senator Emmanual Nuquay.<\/p>\n

Due to the spate of campaign related violence, citizens fear whether election violence will continue during and after the election, so many of the voters have decided not to send their kids to school until the election is over.<\/p>\n

The fear was further exacerbated when Senator Prince Y. Johnson warned of an armed revolution if the election is rigged.<\/p>\n

Efforts to get Representative Samuel Kogar could not materialize as his phone was perpetually off.<\/p>\n

During the investigation, the Bahn Police Station confirmed the incident but told a local reporter in Bahn, Alex Luo, that two people were under detention and undergoing an investigation.<\/p>\n

Earlier, it was said that seven people were arrested and brought to Bahn for investigation. Yet, how the others were released could not be verified.<\/p>\n
