Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>The Standard Bearer of the Democratic National Allegiance (DNA), William Tuider, has disclosed that he will pick one of the two top presidential candidates to support if a runoff, which is imminent, is announced by the National Elections Commission (NEC).<\/p>\n

Tuider, one of the 20 presidential candidates who contested the October 10 election, said his support would go to the candidate who believes in justice and the rule of law.<\/p>\n

The DNA noted that if there is no decisive winner in the October 10 presidential election, his DNA party and its executive will not settle for less when the decision arises for endorsement of any of the two candidates that will qualify for the run-off.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe at the DNA will not be neutral should there be a runoff election. We will take a side and our support will tilt towards the candidate who believes in justice and the rule of law,\u201d he said at a press conference in Monrovia on Monday, October 16. He said he and members of his party are willing to work with anyone who emerges as winner out of the electoral process for the betterment of the Liberian state.<\/p>\n

Tuider also disclosed that his commitment to the people of Liberia extends beyond electoral outcomes, promising to continue to fight for their interests, regardless of the electoral process.<\/p>\n

The DNA presidential candidate has not conceded defeat yet, and congratulated Liberians who turned out in their numbers to vote on October 10, in a peaceful manner. Tuider believes the way Liberian conducted them on Election Day demonstrates to the world that the country\u2019s democracy is maturing. He however urged the NEC to ensure that the will of the Liberian people is respected.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow that the process is done with, let the right thing be done and that is whoever wins this election, whether old or young, let the choice of the Liberian people be respected.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI also want to send this warning that war destroyed our country and 250,000 people were killed, and ever since then, we have not recovered. Therefore, if anyone or any group of people feel that they can take these elections for the sake of power and incites violence in this country, we will use our international community connection and prosecute those involved to the letter,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

According to him, if it will cost them their lives and commitment, they will certainly do it, stressing, \u201cAnd I, Williams Tuider, am very serious about this. And to all of the Presidential candidates that did not make it to the top, including myself, I say thank you for your participation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the DNA Standard Bearer called on all of his colleagues, as well as the citizenry, to resist any form of violence, coupled with protecting the votes of the citizens.<\/p>\n

He committed himself to reaching out to all political party leaders who did not make it to the top, in the coming days, to collectively send out a unified message and warning to those he described as potential criminals, who might intend to thwart the will of the citizenry.<\/p>\n
