Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>Defeated presidential candidate Dr. Clarence Moniba says he has begun having discussions with the two parties heading to the run-off to determine his decision, adding that he has set conditions for endorsing any party.<\/p>\n

\u201cParamount among our many concerns is the youth-driven agenda for \u201cA New Liberia\u201d that we ran on and to which we remain uncompromisingly committed,\u201d said Dr. Moniba.<\/p>\n

The Liberia National Union (LINU) presidential candidate specifically areas to focus on during these negotiations with the two parties \u2013 the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) and the opposition Unity Party (UP).<\/p>\n

Among his demands, Moniba said the infrastructural needs of the country are a very important centerpiece towards \u201cA New Liberia.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr. Moniba has determined that the side he eventually endorses will have to place a premium on securing the funding for, and construction of four (4) major roads.<\/p>\n

He named the roads the Sanniquellie to Zwedru Road in Nimba and Grand Gedeh Counties; the Robertsport Highway in Cape Mount County; the Salayea to Foya Road in Lofa County; and the Buchanan to Rivercess stretch of road in Grand Bassa and Rivercess Counties.<\/p>\n

Regarding Technical and Vocational Education, Dr. Moniba called for training opportunities for young people in every county in this country, saying it\u2019s an overdue need.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs our focus on opportunities for young people in this country during the campaign was on educational opportunities outside the traditional classroom, we must ensure that the party that we ultimately endorse prioritizes Technical and Vocational education,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Specifically, Dr. Moniba noted that the party works towards building modern Technical and Vocational colleges in every county in the Republic of Liberia.<\/p>\n

He said this is also long overdue and must begin immediately.<\/p>\n

\u201cHealthcare: the Party we ultimately endorse must clearly demonstrate to us a plan to renovate, properly equip, and properly staff all Government hospitals in this country, led by the John F. Kennedy (JFK) and Jackson F. Doe (JFD) Medical Centers.\u201d<\/p>\n

He noted that the above listed are by no means all of the issues being raised during his negotiations, as he continues to discuss an economic plan that addresses the high rate of unemployment in the country.<\/p>\n

He also spoke of the better implementation of law and order, the fight against corruption, the fight against drugs, and the need for more stable electricity throughout the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs elections for the 2nd round are three weeks away, we hope to announce our decision to you in the shortest possible time, without sacrificing a prudent, well-thought-out process for one driven by the need to rush and announce a decision that does not necessarily stand the test of time,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He said he could not be more honored to have participated in the process as a candidate for the Office of President of the Republic of Liberia, alongside his running mate Madam Grace T. Kpaan.<\/p>\n

He also acknowledged thousands of supporters who sacrificed, supported, and stood with his team.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlthough we may not have achieved our ultimate goal this time, rest assured that, indeed, we fell forward, and we will come back better prepared.\u201d<\/p>\n
