Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>Former Nimba County Senatorial candidate and Superintendent, Edith Gongloe-Weh has endorsed the second term bid of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) standard bearer, President George M. Weah, ahead of the runoff election.<\/p>\n Edith Gongloe-Weh contested in the 2014 Senatorial race against Senator Prince Y. Johnson and in the 2020 race against Jeremiah K. Koung, now Unity Party vice standard bearer to Joseph N. Boakai and maintained second place over 30%.<\/p>\n President Weah and former Vice President Joseph N. Boakai are poised to contest for the nation\u2019s highest seat in the runoff election scheduled for November 14, 2023.<\/p>\n Gongloe-Weh\u2019s endorsement follows the endorsement by her brother, Cllr. Tiawan Gongloe, of Boakai, the Unity Party\u2019s candidate.<\/p>\n Madam Gongle-Weh said she did not come to the decision overnight but consulted with supporters, her \u201camazing husband, and well-wishers\u201d before coming to this conclusion.<\/p>\n She said the decision is based on thorough consultations and assessments of the remaining candidates, and decided to declare her unreserved support for the re-election bid of President George Manneh Weah of the Coalition for Democratic Change.<\/p>\n \u201cAs we prepare for that round of elections, we want to make a decision that keeps the country stable and does not veer off in the wrong direction yet again. That is why this decision is critically important to us,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n Gongloe-Weh said she does not take this election lightly, given the country\u2019s troubling history of perpetual underdevelopment and civil conflict caused by bad political decisions and choices of leaders that they elect into power.<\/p>\n Gongloe-Weh said she is further aware that elections have consequences; it is for this reason and more that she is compelled to make a public declaration of her choice so that her followers will know just where she stands on this critical national decision.<\/p>\n Gongloe-Weh said she would spread the CDC message of national reconciliation, reconstruction, and renewal in the second term of President Weah.<\/p>\n According to her, Weah is a better choice in the pending election, and she calls on President Weah and his team to take the endorsement as a challenge to govern well when reelected for his second term bid.<\/p>\n She calls on all of her supporters who believe in her judgment to join her in supporting President Weah to victory to complete all of his development agenda under the Pro Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are resolved to robustly campaign throughout the length and breadth of our county and country,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n For More News And Analysis About Liberia<\/a> Follow Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" ALVIN WORZI Africa-Press – Liberia.
