Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>Indian businessman and philanthropist Mr. Upjit Singh Sachdeva (Mr. Jeety) says he could consider providing short-term training for some inmates in the rubber trade based on prison authorities\u2019 request for increased skill training for inmates.<\/p>\n

However, Mr. Jeety said he would give a clear response to the request following discussions with his team from Jeety Conglomerates.<\/p>\n

The Indian businessman and his team carried out hot cooked-meal distribution on Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, 2 November 2023 at the Monrovia Central Prison (MCP) for 1,469 inmates before extending the exercise outside the facility.<\/p>\n

In August this year, Mr. Jeety dedicated a multimillion-dollar state-of-the-art rubber processing factory in Weala, Margibi County, the first ever in Liberia.<\/p>\n

It has been projected that the factory would generate between US$40m to US$50m in foreign exchange for the Liberian Government.<\/p>\n

At the start of the holiday food distribution exercise, Monrovia Central Prison Superintendent for Operations Madam Janet Siryee Mulbah appealed to Mr. Jeety to facilitate increased skill training for inmates.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re having it, but it\u2019s on a slow page. So, we want him as he\u2019s regularly working, he\u2019s our partner now, that he will increase our trade so that our boys and girls will have something to do so that when they are leaving the prison they will go with something,\u201d Madam Mulbah pleaded.<\/p>\n

She stated that if an inmate returns to the community the same after four or five years in detention, they will join their friends in committing crimes and later return to prison again.<\/p>\n

But she argued that if inmates are given skills, they can live by what they learn and possibly keep away from criminalities.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Madam Mulbah has hailed Mr. Jeety for his consistent help to the Monrovia Central Prison.<\/p>\n

In response, Mr. Upjit Singh Sachdeva said Madam Mulbah has put him on task, but he will discuss her request with his team from the Jeety Trading Corporation for a way forward.<\/p>\n

Mr. Jeety who dedicated his Jeety Rubber factory in August this year, noted that he could consider providing short training for some of the inmates in the rubber trade.<\/p>\n

But Mr. Jeety said he would give a complete answer to Madam Mulbah\u2019s request after some discussions.<\/p>\n

Earlier at the start of the distribution of hot cooked meals with inmates at the Central Prison, Mr. Jeety said it\u2019s been over six and a half years since he started the initiative in Vai Town on Bushrod Island.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd God has been so great, merciful, full of blessing to me, to Jeety Conglomerate. With the support of my team, I have been doing food distribution regularly at Vai Town. By regularly I mean on a daily basis,\u201d said Mr. Jeety.<\/p>\n

He added that God has been so great that he has started food distribution in Weala, Margibi County where his newly dedicated Jeety Rubber Factory is located.<\/p>\n

During the food distribution exercise on Thursday, Mr. Jeety said the team fed 1,469 inmates on the holiday with nourished meals.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I urge all my fellow businessmen not to forget inmates at the central prison,\u201d Mr. Jeety pleaded.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Mr. Jeety provided 600 rubber plates for the inmates in response to prison authorities\u2019 requests.<\/p>\n
