Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Liberia Cooperative Standard Education School System (LICOSESS), was honored with the \u201cBest Teacher\u201d award for 2023 in recognition of his significant contributions in shaping the education system in Liberia. The award, sponsored by USAID-Liberia, acknowledges Wehyee\u2019s dedication and practical efforts to improve education in the country.<\/p>\n

Expressing his gratitude, Wehyee was elated that his work within the struggling education system had been acknowledged, emphasizing his unwavering commitment to ensuring that every child has access to quality education, irrespective of financial limitations.<\/p>\n

As a proponent of quality education, the LICOSSES\u2019 boss said providing dedicated and trained teachers in schools is vital for building a brighter future and a more prosperous society. He emphasized the importance of collective efforts in creating a more equitable and inclusive education system for all.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on his upbringing, Wehyee shared how he faced challenges due to financial constraints that forced his parents to choose between him and his brother for quality education, and despite limited resources, he remains grateful for the sacrifices made by his parents, which instilled in him a deep appreciation for education and its transformative power.<\/p>\n

He pledged to utilize this recognition to rally more support for children whose parents struggle to afford their education \u2014 while also expressing a commitment to inspiring and empowering the next generation of educators and leaders, fostering a culture of innovation, resilience, and dedication within the education sector.<\/p>\n

Also at the awards ceremony, the civil society organization KEEP-Liberia was recognized as the best-performing organization. The organization focuses on building libraries and promoting literacy among Liberian children.<\/p>\n

Dr. Deddeh Supuwood, a board member of KEEP-Liberia, expressed their readiness to reach out to as many children as possible and help them learn how to read.<\/p>\n

Several individuals, including Anita Collins, Goreti Itoka, and Alphia Kemokai, were also recognized for their outstanding contributions as the best health workers, farmers, entrepreneurs, and youth of the year, respectively.<\/p>\n

The Charge\u0301 d\u2019Affaires of the US Embassy, Catherine Rodriguez, commended the honorees and highlighted the importance of supporting Liberian youth in realizing their full potential.<\/p>\n

Rodriguez expressed confidence in the recipients, emphasizing the need for the Liberian government to create an enabling environment for young people to explore and develop their talents. The ceremony, organized by USAID for the fourth consecutive year, aims to make a positive impact on youth and the nation-building process.<\/p>\n
