Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>The acting chief executive officer of the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC), Monie R. Captan, has credited the remarkable achievements of the corporation to the collaborative efforts of its all-Liberian management team, acknowledging the collective dedication of employees and contractors alike.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the LEC\u2019s annual celebration and awards ceremony, Captan emphasized the pivotal role of teamwork in the corporation\u2019s success. \u201cLEC is about teamwork. There is no single person responsible for our accomplishments. Every individual\u2019s contribution, from management to every staff member, is integral to making LEC what it is today,\u201d Captan said.<\/p>\n

The event, held at the LEC compound at the Mount Coffey Hydro Electric Power Plant, honored retiring staff members for their dedicated service to both LEC and the country, while also recognizing numerous individuals for their selfless commitment to the corporation over the years. Captan extended his appreciation to the retirees and honorees, urging all employees to prioritize Liberia\u2019s interests and actively contribute to the nationwide effort to expand electricity access for all citizens.<\/p>\n

Madam Mary Broh, Director General of the General Services Agency (GSA) and deputy head of the LEC\u2019s anti-power theft taskforce, was notably honored at the event. Captan commended her relentless dedication, highlighting her unwavering commitment as a driving force behind LEC\u2019s success. He encouraged her to remain an essential pillar in furthering the corporation\u2019s achievements.<\/p>\n

Expressing heartfelt gratitude, Captan acknowledged the Liberia Electricity Regulatory Commission (LERC) for its proficient regulatory role, affirming LEC\u2019s unwavering commitment to collaborating with LERC towards shared national energy objectives.<\/p>\n

During the event, Dr. Lawrence D. Sekajipo, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of LERC, commended the transformative efforts spearheaded by Mr. Captan within the LEC. Dr. Sekajipo emphasized the corporation\u2019s notable positive changes, emphasizing the qualities of quality, integrity, and responsible leadership under Captan\u2019s stewardship.<\/p>\n

Drawing a comparison between the ESBI and Captan\u2019s management eras, Dr. Sekajipo highlighted the progress made under Captan\u2019s leadership, lauding him as a success-driven manager who has assembled a dynamic and competent team. He said the LErc Anticipating a more harmonious relationship between the regulator and the operator, Dr. Sekajipo recognized the substantial achievements of the LEC within Captan\u2019s brief tenure.<\/p>\n

He expressed the LERC\u2019s pride in the corporation\u2019s accomplishments under Captan\u2019s leadership, foreseeing a promising future for Liberia\u2019s energy sector due to the current management\u2019s capable leadership and the existing parallel coexistence.<\/p>\n

\u201cLEC has demonstrated those qualities, integrity, and responsible leadership and management under Mr. Captan. So, today after 24 months, or less, we are where we are today. We, at LERC are cognizant for LEC achievement thus far. We look forward to a harmonious relationship. The future for the energy sector in Liberia is bright under your leadership and stewardship,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
