{"id":5060,"date":"2021-12-10T09:10:41","date_gmt":"2021-12-10T09:10:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/liberia\/all-news\/mary-broh-pardoned"},"modified":"2021-12-10T09:54:52","modified_gmt":"2021-12-10T09:54:52","slug":"mary-broh-pardoned","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/liberia\/all-news\/mary-broh-pardoned","title":{"rendered":"Mary Broh Pardoned"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>The Plenary of the House of Representatives has reluctantly pardoned Mary Broh, the Chairperson of the Citizens Engagement Board (CEB) following an apology from the Monrovia City Corporation (MCC).<br \/>\nThe MCC apology came after Broh refused to appear before the House to address allegations of abuse of power, but opted to lead an army of &#8216;sanitation soldiers&#8217; to protest an invitation, which intended to probe her over allegations of abuse of power.<br \/>\nThe MCC believes that Broh&#8217;s action was &#8220;disrespectful and arrogant&#8221; and obstructed the work of the House of Representatives.<br \/>\n\ufffc<br \/>\n\ufffc<br \/>\nGowned in traditional Kru attire, the General Services Agency (GSA) Director-General and a crew of 30 cleaners, in signing songs calling for the first branch of government to be clean and giving a facelift. &#8220;Clean your place, clean your offices, clean your bathrooms&#8230;,&#8221; they sang and danced.<br \/>\nBut while the House expressed disappointments over the &#8216;insults&#8217;, they reluctantly agreed to accept the apology. However, the House agreed to work with Broh and the CEB work to clean the City of Monrovia for Liberia&#8217;s Bicentennial celebration, which begins this December, marking 200 years since the first slaves lending in Liberia in 1821.<br \/>\nMadam Broh has also been cautioned to transmit a medical report to the Office of the Chief Clerk to confirm her illness by next week and should also submit a comprehensive report to the leadership of the House of Representatives on the destruction of properties including bananas and plantains, worth about L$4.7 million.<br \/>\nThe MCC apology for Broh\u2019s &#8220;disrespectful and arrogant&#8221; behavior as well as for the act of obstructing the work of the House of Representatives.<br \/>\nAlso, Liberia&#8217;s Culture Ambassador, Juli Endee Tarpeh, the co-chair of the CEB, apologized, on behalf of the CEB, and in her name.
