Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>The residents alleged that the land was instead allocated to a private entity, Millennium Construction Company, which is now reportedly constructing and selling housing units at exorbitant prices.<\/p>\n

DUAZON, Margi County<\/b> \u2013 Indigenous residents of Duazon Town, situated on the Roberts field highway, took to the streets in protest against what they deem an unlawful seizure of land by a private company. They demand compensation for land utilized by the company for the construction of commercial housing units.<\/p>\n

The dispute traces back to negotiations initiated by former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf in 2006, with an initial agreement to erect low-cost housing units for officers of the Armed Forces of Liberia.<\/p>\n

However, the residents alleged that the land was instead allocated to a private entity, Millennium Construction Company, which is now reportedly constructing and selling housing units at exorbitant prices, contrary to the agreed-upon terms.<\/p>\n

Despite attempts to reach out to Millennium Construction Company\u2019s General Manager for comment, the company has yet to respond as promised.<\/p>\n

The residents also claimed that as part of the negotiation with former President Sirleaf, the Liberian government was supposed to provide various amenities, including clinics, schools, road construction, and a town hall, as compensation for the land.<\/p>\n

Amos P. Richard, General Town Chief of Duazon community, expressed disappointment, stating, \u201cAll the promises made have not been fulfilled by the government. Instead, we see a private company building high-cost housing units. That wasn\u2019t the agreement.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, investigations by FrontPage Africa reveal that Millennium Construction Company is facing challenges, as several clients who have purchased homes are yet to receive keys to their properties.<\/p>\n

Madam Caroline Davis, based in the U.S., has accused the company of fraud for failing to hand over a housing unit she paid for. In response, the company acknowledged delays in property turnover but refuted the fraud allegations.<\/p>\n
