Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>The Health Professionals Board of Liberia has officially launched a website, containing new guidelines for all health practitioners to renew their licenses.<\/p>\n

The initiative was launched with support from the United States Agencies for International Development (USAID) and other development partners on Friday, 9 February 2024.<\/p>\n

The senior coordinator of the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) of the Bridge-U Liberia project, Sharley S. Fahnbulleh explained that the project is an outcome of an assessment done on the various health worker boards to attain information on the health sector.<\/p>\n

The senior coordinator noted that the assessment was marred by challenges as there was little or no information on the various boards because only the Liberia Board of Nursing and the Liberia Board of Midwifery had a functional website.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe started up wanting to review and revive the national guidelines for CPD that was developed in 2017.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe did a capacity assessment to find out where the different boards were, and we found out that it was only the Liberia Board of Nursing and Liberia Board of midwifery that had a functional website,\u201d Madam Fahnbulleh revealed.<\/p>\n

She further said, \u201cWe worked all through looking at the old guidelines and looking at the ones from other countries taking in their best practices.\u201d<\/p>\n

Madam Fahnbulleh said that the website contains information to allow health professionals to apply for operational lessons that would enable said person to practice as a health practitioner.<\/p>\n

According to her, all the regulatory health boards have agreed that as of April 2025, anyone wanting to renew their lesson must have completed some form of Continuous Professional Development (CFD) before their license is renewed.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Last Mile Health, a partner in the Liberia health sector has pledged to support the website to ensure that its intended purpose is achieved.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will continue to support till the intended purpose of the website is achieved. This is not only good for you but also [for] those of our staff who are also working as health practitioners,\u201d Last Mile Health assured.<\/p>\n
