Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>Liberia has returned to the FIFA Women\u2019s World Ranking after 14 years of absence, the latest FIFA ranking has revealed. Liberia has been ranked 159th in the world out of 176 nations, and ranked 32nd out of 140 on the African continent.<\/p>\n

Liberia was last ranked in December 2007, but dropped from the ranking due to the Female Lone Star\u2019s lack of activity and non-participation in international competitions.<\/p>\n

Following the ascendancy of Mustapha Raji as President of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) in 2018, the football association embarked on the reactivation of various national teams including the women\u2019s teams at various levels (U-17, U-20 and Senior).<\/p>\n

The latest ranking, released on December 10, comes nearly four months since the last FIFA\/Coca-Cola Women\u2019s World Ranking, at which time Liberia\u2019s senior women\u2019s national team had played Senegal in the 2022 CAF Women Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.<\/p>\n

Liberia lost 2-1 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium and suffered a 6-0 defeat away in Senegal. In the latest ranking, \u201cthings remain unchanged at the top, however, with USA retaining first place, a position they have occupied since 2017, Sweden and Germany remaining second and third respectively.\u201d<\/p>\n

Liberia and Benin were the two countries that returned to the global ranking after 14 years, while others (Niger, Sierra Leone and South Sudan) joined the global ranking for the first time. The next FIFA\/Coca-Cola Women\u2019s World Ranking will be published on 25 March 2022.<\/p>\n
