Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>Monrovia Downtown FC has qualified for the Montserrado County Subcommittee third division playoff. The Central Monrovia Subcommittee side advanced and sealed their qualification on Monday, March 25, 2024, when Red Lion FC failed to turn up for their game with Downtown FC, who were awarded three points by default.<\/p>\n

Monday\u2019s result means the city boys of Downtown FC now maintain their lead at the top of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) Central Monrovia third division league table. Downtown FC now has one game left to end the league, which will be against Street Soccer in the second round of the LFA Central Monrovia Subcommittee league. A win for Downtown FC will see them crowned champions of the Central Monrovia Subcommittee league.<\/p>\n

Currently, Downtown FC leads the table with 28 points and will be hoping to secure all three points in the last game against Street Soccer to lift the championship. Coach Jasper Kun of Downtown FC, in an exclusive interview with FrontPage Africa, called on his players to maintain their excellent ball control and goal-scoring techniques until their dream of advancing to the LFA third division playoff is achieved.<\/p>\n

Coach Jasper said everything is on course for his players when it comes to modern sporting equipment, better healthcare, and salaries, but it is time for them to put those facilities to better use for the qualification of Downtown FC to the playoff stage of the league.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want my players to maintain their ball control and goal-scoring techniques because through these two aspects of football, they have exhibited dominance against their opponents in the first round of the league, and they have continued to display the same system in the second round of the league. Through these two aspects, we can achieve our goals,\u201d Coach Kun said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have lost only one game since the start of the league, and if we can keep it up, I\u2019m sure we will not only qualify for the playoffs but also qualify for the second division of the LFA,\u201d Coach Kun added.<\/p>\n

He described his players\u2019 performances on and off the field of play as encouraging and called on his team captain to continue his good work with his teammates on and off the ball for the common growth of Downtown FC, emphasizing that the focus should be on the team\u2019s success rather than individual satisfaction as they continue their struggle to qualify for the second division of Liberian football.<\/p>\n
