Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>The Liberian Senate leadership says it recognizes the Senate Committee on Defense and Judiciary as the most productive committee.<\/p>\n

Liberian Senate President Pro-Tempore Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence has named the Committees on Defense, Security, Intelligence and Veteran Affairs and Judiciary, Claims and Petitions as the most productive committees during the first quarter of that august body.<\/p>\n

Sinoe County Senator Cllr. Augustine S. Chea chairs the Judicial Committee, while Lofa County Senator Momo Cyrus chairs the Defense Committee.<\/p>\n

Pro-Tempore Karnga-Lawrence named the two committees on Tuesday, 2 April 2024, while delivering a special statement to the Senate plenary.<\/p>\n

Addressing legislative reporters at his Capitol Building Office, Senator Syrus thanked the Pro-Tempore for her farsightedness and recognition of the Defense and Security Committee.<\/p>\n

The Lofa County Senator expressed gratitude to the Liberian Senate leadership for naming the Committee on Defense and Security, which he chairs, the most productive committee during the first quarter of the Senate.<\/p>\n

Senator Cyrus also recognized the joint efforts of all 15 members of the committee for their support and coordination of his leadership.<\/p>\n

\u201cI also want to thank my office staff; my… Chief of Staff, my Research Officer, and all of my office staff for the support given to this committee,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Mr. Cyrus explained that the people of his county elected him to work passionately for their interests and the country.<\/p>\n

He added that the recognition clearly demonstrates his commitment, dedication, and love for the country.<\/p>\n

The lawmaker indicated that he had just entered the Liberian Senate in a period of at least four months.<\/p>\n

He, however, said he was shocked that a very key committee he chairs has bagged such an award from the leadership of Pro-Tempore Karnga-Lawrence.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to express my appreciation to God, my family, my wife, and my kids, who have continued to support me in my sojourn as the Senator of Lofa County and Chairman of the Committee on National Defense and Security,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Senator Cyrus has promised to serve with diligence for the people of Lofa County, stressing that no condition can make him disappoint or betray his constituency.<\/p>\n
