Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>The Port of Buchanan was a scene of jubilations when the only route leading to the port got its first light in 60 years. Residents of the county were seen jumping and singing praises to the government of president George Weah for inspiring his local port Manager in electrifying the road to the port.<\/p>\n

The Port of Buchanan Managing Director, Civicus Barsi-Giah, unveiled newly planted solar lights along the corridor leading to the main port of the county. The Port of Buchanan port corridor has been in darkness for over 60 hears making it fearful to access during night hours.<\/p>\n

At the Port lighting ceremony, the Buchanan Port Manager described the road leading to the Port as very important, saying: \u201cIt is disgraceful to see the road leading to our port in total darkness while we ply the very road in the evening in our cars coming from work, I think it\u2019s a disrespect that\u2019s why I decided to launch this operation called operation lightning the road to our port.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr. Civicus Barsi-Giah said it is the dream of President George Weah to make the people of Liberia happy, and as such, he as manager of the port should move in the same direction.<\/p>\n

Mr. Barsi-Giah said he has no option tapping into the president vision to extend his developmental agenda at the port of Buchanan. He, however, praised former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for paving the road to the port but was quick point out the Weah government portion of the development of the port.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is why we decided to light this road to enable all of us in the county to walk through, I get tired at time driving into the port at night, I will love to sometimes walk the street leading to the port, but I can\u2019t do that when the place is dark,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The port manager said the lighting of the road leading to the port will also help students to study at night. Barsi-Giah also noted that the solar lights will provide security for the port corridor.<\/p>\n

He thanked the president of Liberia giving him the opportunity to serve his people of Bassa where himself ( Barsi-Giah ) used to lived and played soccer during his youthful life.<\/p>\n

For his part, the proxy of Honorable Bill Tweahway, the National Port Authority Manager Director said the Port of Buchanan is one of the Liberia\u2019s ports that needed such attention. Malcolm Scott described the lighting of the Port\u2019s road as a success story for the current management team.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe MD is overjoyed to see the lighting of Liberia\u2019s Economic Gateway corridor as we all know Buchanan Port main and only route had had finally comes alive with electricity for the first time in 61 years,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cWe are here in the Port City of Gbehzohn as a Proxy of Managing Director Bill Twehway to switch the \u2018 ON\u2019 button so that there can be light\u201d He extended pecial gratitude to Port Director Civicus Barsi-Giah for yet another awesome job consistent with Management \u2018s developmental vision.<\/p>\n
