Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>The management of Farmington Hotel has provided 10 pieces of metro high speed ceiling fan to the Karwahs\u2019 Memorial Healthcare Center and Unification City Health Center to help circulate air to staff and patients within their various facilities.<\/p>\n

The ceiling fans, which was estimated at US $ 4,200 was presented to the administrators of the two healthcare facilities during the weekend. Speaking at the presentation, the human resource manager of Farmington hotel, Samuel D. Jimlack said that the gesture is part of the institution corporate social responsibility.<\/p>\n

Jimlack said that though the donation might have appeal little but they believed it is much especially in time where businesses around the world have been hit by COVID-19.<\/p>\n

According to Jimlack, the donation is the institution\u2019s initial contributions to these health facilities, revealing that there are more benefits to come.<\/p>\n

Jimlack who cautioned the clinics to use the ceiling fans for its intended purpose, disclosed that the decision to intervene came after he passed at one of the clinics and saw a pregnant lady sitting and fanning herself with a piece of paper.<\/p>\n

Said Jimlack, \u201cAfter I saw the pregnant lady using the piece of paper to fan herself, I went and informed the management for us to help in that direction.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have outlined many things including hospital beds, drugs and other things that we intend to do. \u201cWe are not going stop here. There are a lot of things we have on the book but this initial one.<\/p>\n

\u201cHopefully next week, the technician will come and do the installation of these fans because we want those that will come here to benefit from them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Making a remarks, the OIC of the Karwahs\u2019 Memorial Healthcare Center, Madam Etta Robert Boakai, said that the fans will definitely benefit the community especially the patients and staff.<\/p>\n

Madam Boakai said that the clinic is face with a whole lot challenges, stating that prime among them is the inflow of patients with seven to 10 patients the maximum per day.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a private facility that depends on its own that is not getting support from anywhere. The little fund that we generate that is why we used to get our staff paid, is the fund we used to purchase drugs, the fund we used to maintain our building.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNowadays, because of the situation in this country, we don\u2019t have people coming to the facility as we think because if someone come to the clinic and we charge LD $3000 or $ 4000, they will not want come back again.\u201d Madam Boakai, however, called on the government to provide subsidies to private healthcare centers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe private facilities have marginalized because people are saying that they are profit entity so they don\u2019t prioritize them. I think we all want the same goal to cure our patients, so whenever government is distributing, they should remember the private clinics,\u201d Madam appealed.<\/p>\n

Also making a brief remark, the OIC of the Unification City Health Center, Woiyea Dorbor said they have been praying for fans for a long time because the tightness of the building which make it hot.<\/p>\n

Dorbor, however, thanked the Farmington hotel for providing fans to the clinic which will help get the people better ventilation and a conducive atmosphere.<\/p>\n
