Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>The Insurance Company of Africa (ICA), Liberia\u2019s oldest insurance company, celebrated its 55th anniversary, highlighting the company\u2019s growth and achievements over the years.<\/p>\n

Ethel V. Knuckles, CEO of ICA, delivered an inspiring speech acknowledging the hard work and dedication of the staff and agents, attributing the company\u2019s success to their efforts.<\/p>\n

Madam Knuckles, who also serves as President of the Liberian Insurance Association and Governing Council member of the West African Insurance Companies\u2019 Association, expressed gratitude for the support the company has received over the years.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has been a long, amazing, and fun journey, sometimes frustrating, but overall, it has been a wonderful year, all thanks to our staff and customers,\u201d she said. \u201cFirstly, I tip my hat to our staff and agents who work diligently in the trenches. I raise my glass to you all and wish you continued success.\u201d<\/p>\n

Knuckles also acknowledged the regulators (CBL) and board for their ongoing support. \u201cI\u2019m thankful for the working relationship with our regulators and the support from our board to move ICA forward. I also appreciate the presence of my family members here today.\u201d<\/p>\n

She emphasized the importance of insurance and the role it plays in society, sharing a personal anecdote to highlight its significance.<\/p>\n

Nathaniel Gbagba, Director for Insurance at the Central Bank of Liberia, commended ICA for its contribution to the insurance industry.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are excited to be part of the program celebrating the 55th anniversary of the longest-running insurance company in our country,\u201d Gbagba said.<\/p>\n

He praised ICA for producing the first Liberian to graduate from the West African Insurance Institute and the second female managing director and CEO. \u201cBut we just want to use this to remind all of us that the penetration rate remains a little under 2%. Let me also say something very important: Insurance matters. No important country under the heavens in modern times can thrive in the absence of insurance,\u201d the Director for Insurance at CBL maintained.<\/p>\n

ICA Board Chairman Frankie Hayford echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the significance of the milestone. \u201cCelebrating 55 years is no small feat,\u201d he noted. \u201cThis evening, we recognize the staff, board, shareholders, and patrons who made this possible.\u201d<\/p>\n

Steve Cashin, a board member and investor at ICA, expressed pride in being part of the company\u2019s journey.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve seen an evolution at ICA over the years, and we\u2019re looking forward to the next five years,\u201d Cashin said. \u201cIt\u2019s an honor to be an investor in a company that offers such valuable services to the people of Liberia.\u201d<\/p>\n

General Manager Charles Amoako welcomed guests to the event and highlighted ICA\u2019s achievements. \u201cAnniversaries are not only a time to recollect memories but also to cherish them,\u201d Amoako said.<\/p>\n

He commended the staff for their dedication and enthusiasm, which have contributed to ICA\u2019s success.<\/p>\n

As part of the anniversary celebrations, ICA sponsored the National Spelling Bee and the 2024 National County Meet. The company also organized a sports day between ICA and International Bank Liberia on Saturday, April 27.<\/p>\n

ICA, founded in 1969, remains committed to its vision of being the leading and most trusted insurance company in its markets, offering both life and non-life insurance products such as vehicle, fire, property, and group medical insurance.<\/p>\n

The occasion was graced by the Director General of the Civil Service Agency, Josiah F. Jokai, Bloom Bank Managing Director and CEO, Olalekan Balogun, members of the Liberia Insurance Association, customers, staff, and other dignitaries.<\/p>\n
