Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>MONROVIA \u2014 <\/b>Abraham Darius Dillon has asserted that any appearance of former President George Weah on the ballot in 2029 is solely to settle for a huge cash payout and to reassure his supporters that he is a man of peace.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Spoon Talk Sunday, May 12, 2024, the Montserrado County Senator said the former Liberian Leader and Standard Bearer of the Coalition for Democratic Change does not have a single chance to resurface in the Liberian presidency.<\/p>\n

According to him, Ambassador Weah\u2019s election in the 2017 presidential election by the citizens was based on love and not belief; many loved him and decided to reward him with the country\u2019s highest office.<\/p>\n

The lawmaker noted that the CDC strongman failed to meet the expectations of the electorate when he became president, stressing that Weah could not improve living conditions or create jobs for citizens during his time in office.<\/p>\n

Senator Dillon said due to this failure, the very citizens who voted for Weah in 2017 ensured that he was voted out of office during the 2023 presidential election for underperformance.<\/p>\n

\u201cGeorge Weah does not have any standing to return to the presidency of this country, and let me state on this microphone, any attempt to place George Weah on a ballot for 2029 will be for him to make money. In the runoff, he\u2019ll tell his people, \u2018You all know the country, and I am a peaceful man.\u2019 They\u2019ll finish settling him. Just leave that thing there, man,\u201d he averred.<\/p>\n

The Montserrado County lawmaker indicated that some individuals primarily appear on the ballot at any given election just for the name and for certain motives, adding that the first two times Weah contested for the presidency were not actually intended for him to become president.<\/p>\n

Senator Dillon emphasized that even when the former football icon became Liberia\u2019s President, the characteristics of a president could not be seen in him until he was removed from office.<\/p>\n

\u201cSomebody who is sitting in an office, outsourcing the duties and responsibilities of that office, only carrying the title, that\u2019s somebody who wants to be president?\u201d Dillon stressed.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, when questioned about the best candidate for the presidency for the 2029 presidential and legislative elections, Senator Abraham Dillon said his only focus is on correcting his missteps in this 2024.<\/p>\n

Despite the pronouncement made by Information Minister Jerelimik Piah that President Joseph Boakai will not contest for a second term, the lawmaker promised not to concentrate on what is in store for 2029 like the CDC did when they were in power.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have 2024 right here. I have some missteps for us to correct, and instead of correcting the missteps and start putting things on hold, then I start thinking about 2029, that\u2019s how you lose it. By the time George Weah became President in 2018, they started talking about 21 years and forever,\u201d Senator Dillon noted.<\/p>\n
