Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>The Rebecca Blamo Mental Health Awareness organization concluded a three-day workshop on trauma, mental health awareness, and related issues, aiming to help participants understand that anyone is at risk of being affected.<\/p>\n

The workshop was held in Artington and Todee, concluding on Monday, January 20, 2024, in Paynesville. Its goal was to raise awareness about trauma and mental health issues.<\/p>\n

Demelza Honeyborne Monger, the Chief Executive Officer of Rebecca Blamo Mental Health Awareness and Well-being, provided an overview of the workshop. She emphasized that the workshop aims to normalize mental health issues, creating a safe space for people living with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) to openly discuss their experiences and seek help.<\/p>\n

\u201cMental health issues are rarely spoken about, and there\u2019s a lot of stigma attached to those living with PTSD, so we\u2019re here to normalize the whole issue,\u201d asserted Demelza Honeyborne Monger.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn order for us to normalize mental health issues and remove stigma, we have to share information surrounding it,\u201d she added, urging participants to use the knowledge gained by engaging with their communities.<\/p>\n

She also mentioned that her organization would soon send a support group to Todee and other parts of the country to continue raising awareness and discussing ways to address trauma and reduce stigma.<\/p>\n

In their remarks, participants, predominantly female, praised Rebecca Blamo Mental Health Awareness and Well-being for hosting an engagement that addresses trauma and mental health, which are pressing issues in Liberia.<\/p>\n

They assured their commitment to initiate community engagement and other forums to spread mental health awareness across Liberia.<\/p>\n
