Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>City Court orders the arrest of an American-based Liberian and others on multiple charges, including Simple Assault.<\/b>
\n <\/b>The Monrovia City Court at the Temple of Justice in Monrovia has ordered the arrest of a Liberian, Abner Yonly, and others for prosecution.<\/p>\n

The defendant has been charged with Simple Assault, Criminal Mischief, and Menacing in violation of Section 15.51 of the New Penal Law of Liberia.<\/p>\n

According to a court document, Defendant Yonly is being dragged to court by Complainant Jallah B. Kollie for wrongfully jumping on his (Kollie\u2019s) peaceful body on 17th February 2024 for a fight, which led the defendant to beat and battle his peaceful body, damaging and destroying his Samsung phone valued US$180.00, including two car lights at the value of US$30.00 and front bomber of his vehicle that costs US$10.00.<\/p>\n

The court also revealed that Complainant Kollie sustained a loss of cash totaling US$700.00, putting the total monetary value and material damages sustained at US$920.00.<\/p>\n

\u201cDefendant also menaced and abused the private prosecutor with the intent and purpose to bring him to public ridicule,\u201d the court discloses.<\/p>\n

In an official written complaint, Complainant Kollie narrates that on February 7, 2024, around 4 pm to 5 pm, while driving from Front Street towards Ashmun Street through Randall Street on his way from work, he encountered an unknown fellow dressed in a white T-shirt driving a white jeep with license Plate#A520415. He added, \u201cOur vehicles met in the middle of the road in an opposite direction.\u201d<\/p>\n

He explains that because of the narrowness of the road caused by marketers\u2019 congestion, both vehicles involved couldn\u2019t pass easily, so he tried to engage the sellers in the street to make way for easy passage. During the engagement with the sellers, the accused disembarked from his vehicle and began to intimidate him (Kollie).<\/p>\n

He quotes Defendant Yonly to have said to him, \u2018If you don\u2019t move your car from the road, I will show you who I am. In fact, I will teach you a lesson.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cI remembered seeing him with two other occupants in his vehicle. My plead with the markers was ongoing, and he got very impatient with the process and, therefore, started to flare up his anger while I was still telling him to be patient and that we should find a way of getting the Police intervention to remove the marketers for the vehicles to make a way out. At this point, he became more vocal and began raining insults. And he got back into his jeep and used his jeep to push my car, causing damage to both my lights, which cost US$30.00\u201d, he explains further.<\/p>\n

According to him, when Defendant Yonly stopped pushing his car from the front for fear of damaging other properties, he (Yonly) got down from his jeep for the second time, walked over to him, and blasted at him.<\/p>\n

Then I became concerned and tried to open my car door to get down, see the damage, and talk with the sellers. Right at that moment, the fellow collared me, hauled me out of my car, and began to punch me on my head and body, and at the same time kicked and assaulted me more violently\u201d, he details. It may be recalled that Defendant Abner Yonly piloted a one-engine plane from the United States to Liberia early this year. It is unknown whether he is still in the country to answer to charges levied against him in court.<\/p>\n
