Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>Capitol Building, Monrovia\u2013The Inspector General of the Liberia National Police (LNP) refusal to officially communicate with the leadership of the House of Representatives that he could not honor their summon in person has angered members of that august body.<\/p>\n

The plenary of the House did summon IG Gregory Coleman last week to appear and give insight into why there are so many accidents along various highways across the country, but the top police brass did not adhere to the lawmakers\u2019 call in person but chose to send proxies \u2014 a move that infuriated the Lower House.<\/p>\n

During the House\u2019s Thursday, May 30, sitting, the plenary warned Coleman (U-100) not to ever fail again to communicate his absence whenever he is summoned by the August Body.<\/p>\n

<\/a>The House\u2019s Plenary said the act of IG Coleman to designate Deputy Inspector General for Operations J.N. Freeman and Chief of Public Safety John Saar to proxy for him without a written or verbal communication of his excuse or absence to them is \u201cunacceptable.\u201d<\/p>\n

Members of the House of Representatives argued that if said \u201cbehavior\u201d is ever repeated, the Police IG will be summoned in contempt for obstructing the works of the Legislature.<\/p>\n

<\/a>Plenary also said this warning goes to all agents of the executive when summoned, they must act respectfully.<\/p>\n

The angry lawmakers, in Thursday\u2019s plenary session, voted to \u201csend back\u201d or \u201creject the appearances\u201d of Deputy Inspector General for Operations J.N. Freeman and Chief of Public Safety John Saar with a stern warning to IG Coleman.<\/p>\n

The motion was proffered by Grand Bassa County District #5 Representative Thomas Goshua for IG Coleman\u2019s proxies to be rejected and his appearance to be rescheduled on Tuesday, June 4.<\/p>\n

It may be recalled that the House of Representatives summoned the Police boss to provide information on accidents occurring across the country and parked vehicles on the highways and how these situations can be remedied.<\/p>\n
