Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>The Representative of District #6, Montserrado County, Dixon Wlawlee Seboe, has demonstrated a commitment to education and community empowerment through his major initiatives as six Liberian youths have been awarded full scholarships to pursue BSc and Master\u2019s degrees at the University of Lay Adventist in Kigali, Rwanda. The six beneficiaries, all males under 38 years of age, departed Liberia Monday for the East African country.<\/p>\n

The scholarships cover tuition, accommodation, meals, and stipends. The initiative, which costs about US$111,000.00, encompasses various fields of study, with expectations set for academic performance by maintaining a minimum 2.8 GPA.<\/p>\n

<\/a>Siaffa O. Sombai, Musa A. Kamara, and Solomon N. Lewis will be seeking master\u2019s degrees in Project Management, International Criminal Law, and Environmental and Development Studies respectively, while Jimmy M. Whalo, Joe Whegar, and Moses Weah will be studying for their BSC degrees in Disaster Management and Environment Management and Conservation.<\/p>\n

Rep. Seboe, during the launch of the \u2018Seboe Empowerment Foundation\u2019 in New Kru Town on Monday, June 3, said: \u201cThese are all full scholarships and they encompass tuition, accommodation, feeding, and stipends.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sources said the three-year BCS degree program for each student costs about US$21,000, totaling US$63,000; while the Master’s degree program is US$16,000 totaling US$48,000 and the total of the six students is about US$111,000.00.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause this is an academic scholarship, we expect an average of at least 2.8 GPA. Anything below will be recalled for those who are prepared to take their place. Those who went there to seek their first degrees, if they perform, they will remain there to get their masters.\u201d<\/p>\n

The lawmaker, who is also the House\u2019s Chairman of Ways, Means, Finance, and Development Planning, said the Seboe Empowerment Foundation (SEF) aims to provide comprehensive support to the constituents of District 16, offering opportunities for education, economic empowerment, and enhanced safety measures.<\/p>\n

In addition to supporting higher education, the SEF aims to provide educational opportunities and economic empowerment to constituents in District 16, offering scholarships for 300 students in primary and secondary education and enabling 20 teachers to pursue AA and BSc degrees in education at the SDA Adventist University.<\/p>\n

<\/a>Furthermore, Representative Seboe has extended support to the community by providing market loans to 500 women and distributing helmets and reflective jackets to 100 motorcyclists.<\/p>\n

The women were each given US$175.00 for market loans, while 100 bikers were given helmets and reflective jackets. New Kru Town governor, Moses Weah, and parent B. Eisenhower Popeh separately thanked Rep. Seboe for the local and International Scholarships, the teacher Development Program, and the market loan scheme for women.<\/p>\n

Mr. Robert Anderson, the Chief of Office Staff to Rep. Seboe, said the International Scholarships at the University of Lay Adventist of Kigali, Rwanda is Rep. Seboe\u2019s way of fostering educational excellence and cross-cultural exchange, while the Teacher Development Program is a special program to facilitate teachers in acquiring Associate\u2019s Degrees (AA), enhancing their skills and qualifications to better serve the community. The Market Loan Scheme for Women, which will be done every June and November, aims to recognize the vital role of women in economic development.<\/p>\n

Anderson pointed out that the distribution of the safety tools aligns with new safety regulations mandated by the Liberian National Police, ensuring compliance with safety standards and promoting road safety within the community.<\/p>\n
