Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>\u2014 Chinese engineering firm expresses possibility of investing in facility<\/b><\/b>The China Railway Construction Bridge Engineering Bureau Group (CRBG) recently conducted a site assessment at the Samuel Alfred Ross Port of Greenville, exploring potential investment opportunities in the facility.<\/p>\n

Mr. Scott Liu, Deputy General Manager of the Chinese company, expressed enthusiasm about the investment potential at the Port of Greenville and pledged cooperation to collaborate with the National Port Authority of Liberia to establish a roadmap for possible investments.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are excited over the progress that we see here and this has encouraged us to see how to invest in the port,\u201d the CRBG deputy head said at the climax of a day-long assessment of the port facilities. \u201cWe will work with the management of the National Port Authority of Liberia to form a possible roadmap for investment.\u201d<\/p>\n

The assessment of the Greenville Port by the Chinese company, according to the management, was in keeping with the vision of the Director of the Port, Cllr. Sylvia Tarley, to deliver quality customer service, enhance international trade, encourage tourism, and diversify the port in accordance with the Boakai administration\u2019s ARREST agenda.<\/p>\n

The assessment, conducted on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, aimed to investigate possibilities for investing in the Port of Greenville by China Railway.<\/p>\n

The Greenville Port Director, Tarley, extended a warm welcome to the CRBG team during the assessment and expressed appreciation to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai and the National Port Authority for selecting the port for evaluation.<\/p>\n

Cllr. Tarley outlined the port\u2019s strategic vision to expand and upgrade to an international standard, aiming to become Liberia\u2019s largest sea port over the next six years. The envisioned plans include developing the port into a transshipment center and an industrial park to boost economic growth.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe plan to expand the port and upgrade it to an international standard with the expectation of making it Liberia’s biggest seaport,\u201d she said. \u201cOver the next six years, our vision for the port of Greenville is to expand it, ensure that it becomes a transshipment center where bigger ships will berth and supplies be distributed to smaller ports in Liberia. We also envision that portion of the port will be an industrial park where companies or manufacturers will acquire land to produce resources that will contribute to the economy of Liberia.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cllr. Tarley commended the National Port Authority\u2019s support in revitalizing the port infrastructure and emphasized the focus on renovating all structures to restore the port to its pre-war state, while seeking partnerships and investments to achieve the long-term vision for the port.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur major focus now is to ensure all of the infrastructures are reconditioned for the Port to regain its Pre-war status as we continue to lobby for partners or investors to meet our vision for the port,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
