Speaking on behalf of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Hon. Pelham-Raad highlighted Liberia\u2019s steadfast commitment to the principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and voluntary service, which are central to the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. \u201cThis forum stands as a beacon of hope and unity, dedicated to the principles of humanity…principles that lie at the core of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n

Amid ongoing global turmoil, Hon. Pelham-Raad emphasized the importance of the ICRC\u2019s work, particularly as crises in conflict-ridden regions like the Middle East escalate. She urged member states to uphold their shared responsibilities in promoting international humanitarian law and addressing the needs of vulnerable populations affected by conflict, disaster, and displacement.<\/p>\n

The Assistant Minister underscored Liberia\u2019s collaborative efforts with the Red Cross to provide life-saving assistance, restore family connections, and enhance disaster preparedness. \u201cThrough these actions, we demonstrate our shared commitment to alleviating human suffering and promoting a culture of peace and resilience,\u201d she remarked, noting Liberia\u2019s pride in supporting the Red Cross\u2019s mission.<\/p>\n

Highlighting contemporary challenges such as climate change, the global refugee crisis, and pandemic threats, Hon. Pelham-Raad advocated for long-term solutions that address the root causes of these issues.
