Africa-Press – Liberia. <\/strong><\/span>Interim Liberia coach Thomas Kojo, who took over from Marion Marinica, will face Togo and Algeria in final games of the qualifiers and has included Farkarlun to help his strike force.<\/p>\n

American Major League side Austin FC forward Byrant Farkarlun has been called up for the senior men\u2019s national football team of Liberia for the country\u2019s upcoming African Cup of Nations qualifiers.<\/p>\n

Interim Liberia coach Thomas Kojo, who took over from Marion Marinica, will face Togo and Algeria in final games of the qualifiers and has included Farkarlun to help his strike force.<\/p>\n

Liberia face Togo at home on Wednesday, November 13, and Algeria away on Sunday, November 17.<\/p>\n

The Lone Stars are currently in fourth place in their AFCON qualifying group. The top two (2) teams in each group will qualify directly for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.<\/p>\n

Farkarlun, 23, joined Austin FC via the 2024 MLS SuperDraft. Farkarlun signed for Austin FC II last February, and went on to record four (4) goals and nine (9) assists in 24 MLS NEXT Pro matches during his first season as a professional.<\/p>\n

He signed a contract with the Club\u2019s first team on June 29 and made his MLS debut the same day, playing six (6) minutes against Sporting Kansas City.<\/p>\n

The call-up is Farkarlun\u2019s first at the senior international level. Under Marinica, Farkarlun did not receive a call despite the team struggling to get goals.<\/p>\n

The former Monrovia Club Breweries attacker will be hoping he can impress the technical staff. He is among 11 professional players invited for the two games. However, Bryant must deliver a performance that provides Kojo with compelling reasons to believe in him for the future.<\/p>\n

Terrence Tisdell and Justin Salmon have also been called up to the team, following impressive performances with their respective clubs.<\/p>\n

Swedish-born midfielder Salmon, who last played for Liberia against South Africa in March of last year, has rejuvenated his form at Egersund in Norway\u2019s second tier, starting 18 of his 27 appearances this season, scoring five goals and providing three assists.<\/p>\n

Tisdell, also last seen in a Liberia jersey against the same South Africa, has had a similar resurgence. He capped off the 2023\/24 Libyan Premier League season with impressive displays for Ett. Al-Misraty, before moving to Asswehly SC in August.<\/p>\n
