<\/b> As the Mining Indaba 2025 gathers global mining professionals and investors in Cape Town, Liberia\u2019s Assistant Minister for Mines at the Ministry of Mines and Energy, has expressed optimism over the country\u2019s mining sector.<\/p>\n

Carlos Edison Tingban is a key member of the Liberian delegation headed by Minister of Mines and Energy Wilmot Paye. The delegation also includes William S. Hines, Deputy Minister for Operations, and Anthony Kullie, Director of the Liberia Geological Survey, along with other technical experts from the Ministry. Their presence underscores Liberia\u2019s commitment to showcasing its vast mineral potential on an international stage.<\/p>\n

In the interview with ELBC, the state broadcaster on the line from Cape Town, Assistant Minister Tingban emphasized that the Mining Indaba is much more than a networking event. \u201cThis gathering is a pivotal meeting place for deal-making and discussions on technological advancements in mining, sustainable practices, and investment opportunities in African mining projects,\u201d he said. He noted that the forum is focusing heavily on the theme of positive disruption in the African mining sector\u2014a shift aimed at leveraging the continent\u2019s abundant critical minerals to lead the global energy transition.<\/p>\n

Tingban highlighted Liberia\u2019s rich array of mineral resources, including significant deposits of manganese, copper, and platinum group metals, as well as emerging potential in copper, gold, lithium, and nickel. \u201cThese are vital elements in today\u2019s electronic world, and our geochemical surveys have shown that Liberia is a very strategic country,\u201d he asserted, pointing to recent survey findings conducted by the Chinese government through its embassy.<\/p>\n

The Assistant Minister detailed the proactive measures taken by the Ministry of Mines and Energy to promote Liberia\u2019s mineral potential. \u201cWe have distributed hundreds of informational materials and geotechnical maps to investors, clearly explaining the diverse critical mineral resources our country has to offer,\u201d he said. Tingban added that the delegation has engaged in numerous high-level meetings with South African officials\u2014such as the Minister of Mines and Mineral Petroleum Resources\u2014as well as natural resource ministers and industrial leaders from other countries.<\/p>\n

According to Tingban, the Mining Indaba 2025 has already attracted significant interest from multinational companies, high-net-worth investors, and industry leaders. \u201cAfter this event, Liberia\u2019s mining sector is poised to be transformed by new investment opportunities. We are opening our hands to the prospects that will drive our economic growth,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

Tingban also linked the momentum from the Indaba to Liberia\u2019s broader development goals, suggesting that the inflow of investment would support the President\u2019s development agenda and stimulate critical infrastructural improvements at home.<\/p>\n
